Just Saw the First Episode...

It's actually not too bad. It's darker and not campy at all compared to "Star Trek: TNG," but then again, I don't think that's what they were going for with this show. I do appreciate that they were attempting to keep up continuity. I loved when he told off that bitchy reporter with the agenda. She had no business making him look bad just to further her career.

That was kinda cute that he called his dog "Number One," and we finally get to hear him speak French. It's very misleading that a character spends years talking in English with a British accent, when Jean-Luc was clearly a Frenchman. At first, when I saw his two caretakers, I thought they were Vulcans, but they were showing too much emotion, and I noticed the U-shaped head ridges on their foreheads, so I figured they were Romulans, and I was right. I'm guessing they were friends he made when he rescued some of them before the Hobus Supernova hit.

I also saw the previews and was delighted to see that the adventures are going to start up soon, and we'll be seeing familiar characters either returning, or making cameos :D. I also like the look of the new "crew" Picard is putting together.

We had some trouble with the sound because Picard has such a quiet, reedy voice, and the sound-effects are loud, but that's a common problem we have with tv shows/movies these days.

What's interesting is, they set this in the year 2400, so thankfully, whatever happens, the events shouldn't interfere with the continuity of "Star Trek Online," (which takes place in the years 2409 and 2410).

Sounds like a Star Trek NIGHTMARE! Count me out of this $hit!

Hey, AmeriGirl26, thanks very much for all the info! I've been out of touch for a long time and had no idea about this show or the others you mentioned.

Now I need to find time to catch up. Thanks again!

You're welcome. Keep in mind it's not following the same formula as a normal Star Trek series, but I think that was the intention. It's kinda like....a spin-off, telling of what happened to Picard after he commanded the Enterprise, and what happened to his former crewmates, as well as finding new ones.

I mostly liked it, I think I will watch the episode again.
