Though, I do have to wonder...why is it that in shows like this it seems like too many of the last to survive are somehow the dimmest bulbs in the bunch??????

It's like real life man, people get buy off the backs of others or get lucky.
Well the smart people probably killed themselves as they realized it would just be a sh1tshow from here on out. I mean there is nowhere safe and any camps or safezones are death traps given any death has the potential to create an outbreak. Given how fast they turn and how they are olympic zombies, death is preferable.
