this confounds me.
wiki says the first one costs $40m

there will be some salary inflation, no doubt, since the first one was such a solid hit.
but why would netflix pay almost half a billion dollars for 4-5 hours of content?
particularly since that content will be people talking.

the appeal of the film was its classic throwback christie style.
a good story told well.
it is not crying out for explosions and massive stunts.
the netflix model baffles me.

I thought the same thing. $150 million is understandable. I'll even accept $200 million. But 450?!?! The sequels are not guaranteed hits. They could be, but it's not like the series has a huge fan base like Avengers.

Also, what will the sequel all about? Harlan is dead. Martha has inherited all. Maybe in the sequel Martha is old and she will give all her money to her caretaker in a convoluted murder mystery again?

This is a one-and-done story-based movie. There is no lore. It's like making a sequel to Cinderella or Sleeping Beauty. Smh.

They're reporting that only Daniel Craig will return.

reply

Ah, I see. So they're making Craig's character in different murder mysteries, Sherlock Holmes style. More like a spin-off then, Falcon and Winter Soldier stuff. Ok, got that. Might work.

Kinda ironic tho', cause Knives Out was hailed as a left-leaning pro-immigration colored female empowerment movie. Then it's given a sequel with a white male protagonist main character. Eh, may throw off some fans.

Oh there are plenty more innocent peoples and cultures that the Left hate and want to destroy, they’ll send Benoit Blanc in to ‘expose’ their supposedly evil ways.

The Nazis also made propaganda movies to encourage the people to hate their neighbours.

I loved Daniel Craig in this movie, but I imagine that I'll tire of the act after two more installments. I think the first movie was great and any fleshing out of the characters will cheapen them. Being a mystery, what the audience doesn't know about the characters is as fun as what is it does.

reply

Maybe they're doing a Hercule Poirot thing.

reply

This is great news because Retard Johnsonless won't be directing any more Star Wars!
