First, I want to say I HATED Last Jedi and Rian Johnson deserved the figurative tarring and feathering he got over it in the media.

That said, Knives Out is awesome! Like a modern day Poirot novel. Daniel Craig was so good and may have himself a new franchise charcter here. Ana, who iplays the main character nurse Marta, was good too and beautiful! Oh yes they tried to frump down her beauty, but she remains me of a younger Jennifer Connely at her oeak.

I am so glad I watched this. It’s free on IMDB with ads for now.

I am in the same boat in that I hated The Last Jedi but LOVED Knives Out!

For me the difference is in TLJ he used the idea of flipping expectations on the 8th episode of a 9 episode story. That is NOT the time to do that. his use of it poorly affected other parts of the story.

In Knives Out! he used it on a genre file that did not affect any other films.

I didn't particularly like it but I didn't expect to - I don't like Poirot either. The cast is great and I particularly like watching Ana de Armas but whodunit films, even with a hefty dose of comedy, don't work for me. It turned up on TV so I gave it a watch to see if it confirmed my prejudices - and it did.
