Todd Haynes as director for hire
A very strange choice of project for Haynes, one of American cinema’s most distinctive auteurs. It’s not terrible, but alarmingly dull for the most part and has little or none of the visual distinction which we expect from him. Even as I was watching this, I felt like I had seen the whole thing multiple times before.
