Wasted 45 minutes, and I demand a refund!!!!

This was a bad film... unoriginal, bland acting, rushed, just... horrible.

reply

Totally disagree. The acting was excellent and it was very well made and entertaining. Candyman is one of the best films of the year.

reply

Does it get better after the half-way point?

reply

I think so.

reply

Only more bizzare and worse.

reply

I thought the first 45 minutes was the best part of the film. And then it took a nosedive.

reply

I felt the opposite. Found the first part terrible and the second half more what I was expecting/wanting. Wish the main protagonists had been more likable from the beginning, everyone just annoyed the crap outta me until like the last 20 minutes.

reply

It's possible I felt similarly. Maybe the last 20 minutes just influenced what I took away from the film haha. God. This movie just fell apart for the final act.

reply

People NEED to watch trailers before they go to these kinds of things.

reply

In the interests of fair representation, I didn't pay to see it. My refund demand is for time over money.

That said, when every trailer and marketing blurb for every film ever made says it's the best film ever made, trailers and advertising mean nothing anyway.

reply

Look for the trailers that don't say that then lol

Example of a modern movie trailer that does not rely on calling itself the best film ever made:

Oh dear... someone who doesn't understand hyperbole. You know very well that advertising campaigns hype up the thing they are advertising. To that end they pretend the movie is better than it is.

Disprove that, as that was the intent of my comment.

reply

I do understand hyperbole and when I ignored it, you came back with quoting yourself.

Of course marketing is to hype a product or in this case a movie. There are plenty of instances where the marketing has failed to hype up what is ultimately a great movie.

Admit you're wrong and just move on.

"I had to shut this off. There were just so many problems with it. For 1, the music is so loud in the beginning it is hard to understand what the characters are even saying. 2, a lot of the acting/writing seems forced. Especially when we are introduced to Vivian and Bill's characters. 3, The alternating timelines are frustrating and only for the purpose of catering to audiences who would have been angry had there not been more than one episode recreated. I believe there are 4 timelines that alternate back and forth throughout the movie. 4, Why weren't the episodes filmed to look like actual episodes? Instead, they are captured in crystal clear high res with what seems to be just a black and white filter put over the top. Also, why not use the actual laugh track from I Love Lucy instead of inventing a new one? fans of the original show will catch this right away. Had to stop watching after about 25min."

What were you saying about people not watching trailers then complaining about the film itself not being what they thought it'd be, by the way?

reply

I could tell from the trailer it was likely to be this way. Due to my attachment with the subject matter I had to at least see if there would be any redeeming qualities. Was that the same reason you tried Candyman?
