THIS REVIEW HIS FULL OF SPOILER!! IF YOU HAVE WATCHED THE MOVIE, YOU CAN READ IT AND IF YOU HAVE NOT WATCHED IT ALSO READ IT SO YOU CAN AVOID THIS MOVIE

As much as i like revenge flicks this is moronic beyond belief, so many problems with this movie let start with the cheesy dialogue which sound extract from the first season of Buffy all snappy and "funny" in a way normal people don’t talk ¿do the person who wrote this have ever had a conversation with another human being?

Everybody is out of character here, everybody is all over the place, nobody look like they have any consistency at all except a little bit for the protagonist the rest are just cartoonish evil or token character like the black trans (her voice is too deep i think is a men) friend, feel like her only purpose in the movie is show us the main character is not racist because her only friend is black (that is the only black character in the movie, the other one is a rapist, so maybe I’m not so far from the true)

Every men is evil this deserve is own section all men are sick monster, licking their lips when they see a drunk woman like the sick sex driven immoral monster the director think that we are, no men have moral, sense of decency or compassion or empathy for any woman, (BTW no any woman have empathy for other woman either they only are capable of feel empathy for men's in this bizarre universe) the only men in the beginning that show any normal range of human emotion end up being rapist and abuser which considered themselves "good guys" everybody who call himself a good guy is literal a rapist in this movie, yeah the director is not subtle in his message, to be honest i was in shock in the end because they don’t reveal the father have a collection of teenage girls corpses in the basement and the protagonist only was living with her parents because she was protecting her mother, the fact the director let go a man without show him as a monster was a surprise for me, i still was expecting some end credits scenes like in the Marvel movies were they would reveal the father was the Pizza gate president or something. But he was too eager to forget her daughter not even ask the police to make their investigation, another male acting out of character, so in the end he is also a douche

Not forget deep down every men is just a coward pig afraid of an independent woman capable of look him in the eyes and talk, only that is enough to make EVERY MAN in the planet piss his pant and cry, every male is just a cartoon with no consistency at all, a guy who apparently honestly cared for a drunk girl and asked for a car to take her to her home in the middle of the way decided he want to rape her (because why not, after all we are pig, remember) so he take her to his apartment no before left evidence that could incriminate him like the taxi driver who is a witness she was a unwilling drunk who barely speak and not only that he let digital evidence he took the girl to his apartment and not to her house which was his original destination, but of course the driver don’t give a damm because he is a man, but he is still a witness and if charges are presented he very probably would say to the police what just happen that night. Or maybe not, apparently accordingly with the writter/director we men have a kind of global fraternity which we all belong and automatically protect each other when we rape or murder a woman doesn’t matter if that make us accomplished of some crime we don’t commit and could destroy our life, that don’t matter if we see a death woman we just jump in and help our fellow brother Men/rapist/murder to dispose the body, we just are always ready to shop a human corpse, take it to the woods and burned down without remorse or at least shadow of a doubt (because why not, after all we are pig, remember) that is the only purpose of the fraternity thought, we are going to talk a little more about this kind of secret organization run by the patriarchy in the last part

Every men is only a monster drive for his sick sexual lust can't even think rationally make every type of mistake like pick random drunk girls an take them to the home of his parent were he live to raped them while mom is making cookie in the kitchen of course the guy have not car so they need to walk because we are all are pigs and the director can't lost an opportunity to show us how much men despite woman, is let clear the black dude who live with his parent don’t considered the girl deserve not even the cost to a taxi to take her to the rape hole he just pretend grab this drunk, almost unconscious, unknown woman all the way to the street until his house, yeah that is how moronic this (Oscar nominated to best picture) movie is the fact the male character show themselves comfortable doing this kind of stuff is indicative they are use to it, they rape drunk woman after drunk woman

and apparently nobody has ever stop them or no victim have wake up and said ¡¡hey!! WTF I’m doing here!! you rape me!! that is illegal!! or maybe they don’t present charges because are scared the judge or maybe the entire police department are part of the fraternity we talk before and would risk they career and life to protect this dude who lived with his parent or to protect McLoving of all people, Oh yeah he is here too and he is a geek with aspiration of become a fictional writer, because he is, everybody here is just a living stereotype of what Hollywood think an abuser and a rapist are, meaning regular guys, McLoving start to sniff some cocaine and acting all douchy with this girl like she is a piece of garbage in the couch, almost kick her trying to wake her up to rape her while is still conscious which is a nice touch and she have to admit it in the end, normally men don’t like to have sex with conscious women, he start touching her while she is barely awake but she open her eyes and that immediately make him stop because that is how real rapist work, she asking what is he doing and he almost piss his pant she leave and he never are going to pick drunk unknown woman and take to his apartment to raped them again, he is now a reformed rapist, because logic.
In another scene when she is just parked in the middle of the road a guy start to insult her hysterically without reason calling her cunt and bitch in a scene is just hilarious for how absurd it is, the frame is open to show us the road is free so he have not reason to be angry because she is park there, actually is ridiculous he just don’t stop and ask her if she is ok or she need any help like the 90% of every human being would do instead he just insult her (because why not, after all we are pig, remember)

again the director can't lost an opportunity to show us how much men despite woman, in general not men have empathy for no woman in this bizarre universe apparently men are not father, boyfriend, husband or brother, they have not opportunity to developed any empathy for any woman we just look at them with sharp eyes and saliva coming out our mouths like they were walking pieces of meat we need to destroy in every way and form possible, that is the only purpose of every interaction we have with every woman. that is how Hollyweird see us
In the middle of the hysterical verbal attack she just walks out of her car and attack this dude breaking his lights and windshield this dude shit his pant and run off because of course men are cowards who can stand a strong independent woman, every men not matter age, social status, race, education level, all men react exact in the same way and think and act in the same way and is moving by the same logic

Let’s talk now about the boyfriend Ryan a guy with the word cuck writing all over his face and persona, this is the most unrealistic romance ever portray in any form of storytelling, she literally in front of him, spit in his coffee after few seconds of conversation because he just ask a rude but reasonable question and he not only is not upset about it, he drink the coffee in front of her and she instead of feel discuss for this weirdo think that is cute, again ¿this writer/director have ever had any interaction with another human being in her life? I’m curious

The dude is doctor and reveal he was a bad student, because of course he was, and she was so perfect the best student ever existed and always admired her so much for all his perfection, because of course she is, basically the dialogue feel like was written by Joss Wheddom mostly his Buffy era, this people don’t talk they just are always trying to upwitty the other with silly “jokes” I don’t think they have a normal regular conversation during the entire movie, always talks with this “clever” comeback’s and the worst part they are not that amusing how they think they are they only looks like morons

After the first date he ask her to go to his apartment she say not he respect that, she gets obviously uncomfortable with the suggestion and he act like have sexual desire for a woman was something terrible and tell her he sorry for even asking her to up to his apartment, and they both act weird like the cartoonist character they are, her I understand she is with this trauma she dealing with, but he is acting like he couldn’t believe what he just did, dude you just asked her to go to you apartment that is normal human behavior she say not and you respect that, also normal human behavior

Later he catches her going out of some place with the black dude we already mention who live with his parent she was apparently drunk, dressing like a call girl, with a complete stranger dressed like a pimp dragging her like some cavemen ready to mate, Ryan for once act like a human being and get upset with her, which didn’t matter because later she go to his apartment and tell him she sorry even when she never explain why she was dressed like a hooker, so far this guy knew she well could be a hooker, she work in a coffee shop she don’t earnt much, she abandon college without apparent reason, everything in this girl is a red flag, she well could be a heroin addict who work the street to sustain his habit, but that doesn’t matter to this guy let’s call him cuck-Ryan, he dint ask anything

he dint ask anything more and what she say which even wasn’t an explanation or even an excuse is enough for him to keep dating here because demand to know about the sexual life of your girlfriend is violence

Like we can’t not disturb the Man=Evil narrative Cuck-Ryan in the end result to be one of the witness of the raping of her friend and he don’t even remember it, even when this character doesn’t look like he would be hanging around with someone like Alan-the rapist, not Alan would invite him to a party were he would be casually raping girls, she forced him to tell him were is going to be the bachelor party of Alan, again they obviously are closed the wedding was small and intimate and Cuck-Ryan was invited why Alan-the rapist and Cuck-Ryan are close friends? This people are different is against character seen them hanging around and been closed even when Cuck-Ryan insist they barely know each other that is not like the movie show us, Cassandra and Cuck-Ryan fight and in the end he is just another monster because of course he is

Now lets talk about the rape some dude rape a unconscious girl in front of a bunch of people and they not only do nothing to defend her they clap and laugh? From where is the person who wrote this? why people are acting like this was a good movie? I’m not American and don’t know the college culture of party but common this is crazy is just not possible in not place in the world that would happen, they not only raped her in front of everybody who was there, they recorded, and is clear they did that all the time that is what the Dean and Madison say to the protagonist that happen all the time is clear Madison himself was victim of rape, that have not sense every woman in this movie is a victim of the patriarchy apparently even the evil ones

The Dean is another moronic and bad write character she is convinced her daughter was kidnapped and in risk to be raped and the person responsible who know where her daughter is, is in front of her and instead of call security she just sit there paralyzed and helpless begging to stop her sick little game and tell her where her daughter is, that is not normal human behavior that is not who people react
In the most moronic and retarded revenge plan Cassandra go to Alan’s bachelor party dressed as a stripper and try to go full Salander on him trying to marking him with the name of her friend he grabs her and break her neck the dude scream like a punk while do this the scene is very cruel and crude the message is the same don’t exist such thing as a nice guy Alan the devil himself in the beginning act all shy and nervous which is completely out of character I don’t buy a casual rapist acting like this in from of a stripper he maybe don’t want to cheat is girlfriend is possible but all this shyness have not sense is just feel off again is just to sell the idea don’t exist nice guys even the loyal and shy boyfriend is a rapist and murderer
And this is the part of the patriarchy and the secret global society we all are in and the director just catch us all, the best friend of the groom enter in the room and see the dead body instead of call the police, he jump and try to convinced his friend he did nothing wrong even when he don’t know WTH happen during the night, he go all paternal and try to protect his friend, putting is own life and future in danger to cover a crime he didn’t commit, Why? Well, because that is what men do, is part of our responsibility as member of this secret organization of man hating woman, his a responsibility and privileged by part of this millennial organization/club some day you are just insulting random women in the street the other you have to help your friend to chop a corpse, transported to the woods, and burned it down, no question ask,

not remorse, every men just have that inside, that killer instinct is not just psychopaths or maybe we all are psychopaths and that is what the director is trying to telling us
Cassandra program a message that is send automatically as a self-insurance measure in case of her dead which is the only smart thing in her plan, actually is the only smart thing she ever did in the entire movie, ¿go to the house of possible rapist expecting to scare them? not smart, ¿date a dude who drink spit coffee? not smart, ¿work in a coffee shop? Not smart, ¿pretend to kidnap the daughter of the dean and go direct to her office and tell her? Not smart, ¿go without at least a pistol to a bachelor party full of drunk rapist, dressed as a stripper with the idea of mark the groom with a knife? not smart
Also she sends a letter with the video of the raping to the lawyer who defend Alan-The rapist the men show some regret but look pretty instable why send the video to him of all people? why not to her friend the coffee shop owner when she could also handle the situation and she have more reason to trust in her, but let’s not think much about it and just agreed Cassandra is not the brightest bulb in the room, sending the video as self-assurance measure in case of her dead? Smart, ¿the execution? not smart

And thinking about it, why not just send the video to the police herself instead of the moronic revenge plan that she has which would have ruined her life either way, if she lost he would kill her, if she wings and mark him, she would up in jail and with her life ruined. Sending the video to the police and everyone who knew Alan-The Rapist and all his gang, would destroy their life and is real justice he could be ended up in jail even when I don’t know much about the prescription of crimes was like 10 years ago maybe still is not prescribed and he could be judged again with this evidence

Good things about the movie

In the party was some dude talking about some girls that are so flexible you can cum in her ass and her face at the same time that actually sound like a fun story and I wanted to hear more about it but they cut it quickly is a shame

The photography is ok, some work of camera blocking even when is misused is decent, the music choice is good reinforced the intention of the director that was emotional manipulated the audience to the point she present a grotesque picture of men in general but make us sympathized so much with the main character most people don’t see all the flaws the movie have (is not necessary something good but at least show ability from the director to achieve her purpose) I felt like a reference to Rebecca of Alfred Hitchcock was in the end of the movie when they show the heart with the name of Cassandra and her friend I think is a hint they were more than friends which would have a lot of sense “she was relentless and dint care for nobody’s opinion but mine” soound more like a lover and again have a lot of sense

The movie wasn't that heavy handed & honestly I think a lot of the "incel" style kneejerk criticism has been overstated. That said, I didn't think the movie was anything more than average at best & do believe this film being nominated for any special award is ridiculous. Then again I've cared very little for the Hollyweird's self congratulatory award shows for years now.

To be fair, almost all characters, men and women were kind of crappy, indifferent enablers in this movie. The main character herself wasn't exactly a very good person & did some messed up crap. Getting her old college friend drunk and setting her up to think that she might have been raped just to prove a point, was despicable. There were no virtuous people in this movie.

I said this to my friend the other day. This movie is a 7/10 at best and the only Oscar nomination it deserves is Carey Mulligan. This would have been a forgettable movie 10 years ago.
