bingewatched

My wife and I binged this over two nights. Not a bad crime drama - they could have done without the teenage story line and the humor around it. There are some questions as to Katz's motivations. 7/10

I binged over 2 nights as well. Very vood, which is rare these days.

Me too, loved it! Also binge-watched What If over the past week, and enjoyed that as well. I'd give them both an 8/10

I read the book a few years ago and I don't remember the details, but I am pretty sure the subplot with the teenagers was not part of it - and I don't think the whole thing with Adam's father and Killane and the court case was either. I guess they had to add some material in order to be able to stretch the mini-series to eight episodes.

As for Katz's motivation, he needed money to pay for his daughter's medical care. The guy who was being blackmailed hired him to find the blackmailers and put an end to it. It is not clear how the two knew each other, but I guess it's not all that relevant. I suppose he must have thought that the café owner was involved in the blackmailing, since she was the mother of the girl who was at the center of it. Once it was clear that she was also a victim, he should have just let her go though, instead of shooting her in the leg and then having to kill her.

Anyway, I enjoyed it.

Yep, me too. I really enjoyed it especially the acting by the detective and Adam Price. Katz’s motivations were clear to me but I don’t think Corrine’s motivations regarding the fake pregnancy were ever explained. Are we supposed to assume she did it for the same reasons as the other character who did the same thing?

reply

the fact that she faked a pregnancy seemed to have gotten lost.

reply

I believe she did it to draw her husband back to her. He implied as much toward the end when he said something to the effect of he made her feel so insecure, she faked a pregnancy.

What I never understood was how she got involved with the other woman who faked a pregnancy.

reply

I got that she went to the coffee house, became coffee friends with the pregnant woman and then the woman disappears. When she sees her again months later she’s still pregnant which would’ve been impossible. Then she either looked her up or just surmised what she had done.

reply

Oh, okay! Thank you so much.
