Better than Halloween (1978).

Completely random comparison but I happened to rewatch both back-to-back last night.

Superior acting, screenplay, story, cinematography, editing and atmosphere/scares. The only thing Halloween has on it is the OST and nudity.




Shows how ridiculous movie rating sites like IMDb are. Halloween has a 7.7 and The Night House has a 6.5. Halloween benefits from nostalgic bias and external factors (it gets brownie points for it's influence and box office success).

The truth is The Night House is way better than something like Nosferatu (1922) yet the rating gulf is in the other direction. People should rate movies for how good they are in the present day instead of granting bonus points and inflating the ratings of archaic and dated work.
