We dont know his fate. He fell through the sand just like Ben did. Ben shows up later alive and well. The priest is never seen again. Going by "if you didnt see it, it didnt happen", we dont know what happened. I assume he died because the news reported 4 bodies but who knows if that was real...
shareYou're looking too hard into this piece of shit movie. The fact is, when the next one comes out they can skew the events to be whatever they want. Just like you said "who knows if that was real." It's one of the reasons why movies like this are so garbage. Literally anything can happen or anyone can be in on it.

Although this is just taking an old horror trope to its logical conclusion. Jason dies at the end of Part Whatever, but the beginning of Part Who Cares shows that’s wrong.
Yeah, I found that to be a bit lazy in terms of writing. Another reason why I prefer the extended cut.
