The acid trap

Whoever waits in the phone booth to answer the phone isnt gonna have time to make it out and is gonna get melted by acid. That was harsh.
All of the other rooms were theoretically survivable by everyone.

If you look at the movie from another pov, you have to consider that this entire movie was part of a long con to get Zoey on a plane. She even considers earlier how easy some of the challenges felt. The game was intentionally designed to have Zoey end up as the survivor to play out her fantasy the way she did.

How would they know that Zoey would be in the cab instead of being the person in the phone booth?

If the other players in the game were employees, they would have ensured it.

If the other players in the game were not employees, they could have variations to the puzzles, or additional steps.

Either way, even if you don't buy it, and treat it as a plot hole...it's not that the game is harsh, it's that Zoey needs to be the one to reach that final puzzle (or if you watch the extended cut...Zoey was arguably plucked out).

The doors only closed after the rain stopped with few seconds delay. Maybe the delay was caused by the game maker, who confirmed that Zoey was in the cab (which was the last position) and they can end the game = get rid of the other player. If she had not been yet in the cab, the doors might kept open, at least from the phone booth.
