I didn't realize the creator of moviechat.org was archiving at least some of the IMDB boards. If he's doing so, great! I hope Web Archive can archive some of it, but since there are so many boards that'll be lost, I worry Web Archive will miss archiving at least some of those boards. :( Someone recommended it on the IMDB facebook page, so I'm giving it a try. Still don't know how many specialized boards there are here, but I'm still trying to get a sense of all the similar movie-oriented boards out there, to figure out the best ones to stick to using. I'm sure I'll figure out the better such boards, soon. Wish IMDB wouldn't shoot themselves in the foot by removing the boards as of Monday, and come to their senses to keep their boards going. I greatly fear they won't, sadly to say. That's okay, I'll just use Rotten Tomatoes(for reviews) and Wikipedia(for director/actor/actress history) a lot more, and continue to try out other movie-oriented message board sites to figure out the better such boards out there. For the last 2-3 years, I've gotten down to the point very sadly to say, where it's rare for me to go to theaters more than 3-5(and rarely, perhaps as many as 6-8?) times a year. I have to want to watch a movie VERY, very badly, for me to go to a theater anymore. There are a lot of factors why, from how much more expensive movie theaters are nowadays(especially the big multiplex chains like AMC and Regal, sigh I miss Kerasotes), the fact fewer and fewer cheap theaters exist vs. years ago(love the crap outta Brew and View at the Vic in Chicago, and I still miss the cheap theater that used to exist in Morton Grove), and that I can see so many movies for free on either Amazon Prime or Netflix streaming. The fact you have to deal with rude patrons too often at a multiplex who can't find the brain cells to turn off their damn phone during a movie, or do as little as volunteer to put their phone on vibrate and go outside of the theater to take a call if they must do so, is another negative aspect about indoor theaters. I wish more drive-ins still existed, since it allows for a more private experience seeing a movie inside your car. At least I wish those patrons who can't keep their phone off could use the RunPee app, and figure out the best times to take a break that way. It's also great for having a summary of the 3-5 minute scene you don't see, plus it says whether there's an extra scene during the credits or not. View all replies >
