Yup pretty much my biggest beef. I've said this before, if you sat down an uninitiated person and showed them Daredevil and Iron Fist, which do you think they would think is the premier martial artist of the Marvel Universe? Yeah we all know the answer to that question. The major problem is the show runners didn't understand the character, and refused to put him in a costume. If they put him in a costume, the mask would have allowed for a stunt double who could fight believably. Finn was a horrible choice, he had a few weeks basically to learn the dance moves...I mean fight choreography. No one could reasonably expect him to be believable on screen with that little training. So how the dumb shits running the show couldn't see that as a problem has turned Danny Rand into the biggest joke in the current Marvel Universe. All that would be fine if this was a different story. This is the Iron Fist show not the Danny Rand psychology hour. I understand a little delving into his mindset but literally EVERYTHING about the way the character was portrayed was the antithesis of what he was supposed to be. We're constantly told he is the Iron Fist the chosen one, the most skilled fighter etc. And all we get is a guy who can barely fight, throws a temper tantrum whenever things don't go his way, and whose greatest accomplishment in the show is beating up some Hand students (which he needed help to do). Daredevil kicked the shit out of the real graduated hand for reference. The major problem was one they could have solved easily but chose not to. If they had put him in a costume, well mask, then a stunt double actor who could fight properly would have been able to have been used. Finn is absolutely horrendous as a fighter. If I sat a completely uninitiated person down and showed them Daredevil and Iron First and then asked them who is the best martial artist in all of marveldom, you think anyone would say Iron Fist based on this show? He plays Danny as a whiny temperamental bitch, and his fight scenes are as I previously mentioned horrendous. Bad casting without a doubt, but it was also a badly written Danny Rand. Ahh gotta love closed minded inbred fragile little bigots. Don't have the mental or emotional maturity to handle anything that is different from their closed off sad little lives. Whelp I had a whole big thing typed out here and bam didn't post. not typing it all out again. I will say I don't think was a case of white washing. Believe it or not, while the actor is British, he is born of two Hindu parents. Don't quote me on this but it would appear as though the aim is to make KunLun sort of mirror Tibet's location. In this case since his parents are Hindu IRL, I don't think this is horrendously off. Not all Tibetan's look like a full blooded chinese man. So I don't think is this as atrocious as casting a white woman to play the Ancient One. View all replies >
