I agree. I was caught in the misdirection but I still didnt find the movie involving. its more scifi - im a horror fan and thought it slow moving and derivative. acting was good and I didnt have an issue with cgi but I wouldnt recommend it. great spoiler for everyone to see im not your ducking mother - I laughed! loved that kick too. she was her mother-in-law so its kind of expected. his character is so stupid and naive I was glad to see what happened to him. not sure thats what the filmmakers wanted. my first thought: why a nine year old? kong the puppet was incredible. they should have made it a play with the original screenplay and an orchestra playing the max steiner score. it would still be running. ha! I dont remember at this time. but pj soles! it's out there https://www.tiktok.com/@amanandamouse/video/7292932057943100703 I was put off at first by the ‘woman great, man evil’ theme and Detective Eddie who came to help was so annoying. But by episode 3, I was hooked. Eddie’s personality had been tamped down by her confessions and she became palatable. Very entertaining. That kid was ridiculously written. There were a number of lines that made me balk. In the end, though, I thought it took the original Evil Dead 'rules' and worked them into a decent albeit cookie-cutter movie. Definitely agree with all your good points. This is my thought as I sludge through this tripe. Gable's friend picks him up and Gable is 'so happy to see him' he slaps him four times? Yea, it's meant to be endearing but it's just not. All the friends rushing in when Crawford is getting a massage? For cocktails yet! Isn't the anti-christ the spawn of satan? i can't keep up. The acting is superb. That kid is incredible. Everyone is. The last twenty minutes when Eli's cuffed to the table, I thought 'ok, this is now getting ridiculous'. Really good, tension-filled up until then. But as the credits roll now, I do like it. It was a nice touch with the girl from the window being a half-sister and the last scene where mom becomes son and vice versa with the breathe thing. Yea, it wasn't where I expected it was going but in the end I liked the twist. The effects were well-done and I also thought it was ripe for a sequel: two spawns of Satan, one mom and their adventures - well, wherever. I didn't see Into The Wild but I get the question. My guess is once Daniel Radcliffe signed on they got the money. And no one thought about the fact that, even though this might've happened and one of the guys wrote a book about it(?) which was then read and thought would make a great movie, the guys are stupid - not brave. I have no empathy for Yossi. And you can't make a silk purse movie out of a sow's ear script, so to speak. Yes. I saw that and thought this was gonna be a horror where this rando brings them to the jungle and than it goes all Cannibal Holocaust on them because of the rando. Turns out to be more boring and ridiculous than that story might've been. The problem with any explanation other than a bad script (or stupid people if this is a true story) is that they've been hiking for days trying to get out of the jungle and everyone is talking about the rainy season coming. At that point, intelligent folks put aside their differences and walk the three days together until they can safely go their own ways. The movie is well made but I don't think the characters follow the action of any reasonable person. yea, I guess so. Unless it's a stoner dream? Not really clear but I liked it anyway. I saw the name in the credits but didn't realize she was the mother until I read this. Love her!
