But how much sympathy can we have for Joker types? Why so few episodes? Is lack of motivation - the only problem (in regards to the Fletcher thing)? View all posts >

Well, actually - and not getting melodramatic or overly deep, I thought he sort of represented a whole lot of ordinary people (or famous) who were failed by people - like parents - and justifiably rebelled against normal society - but generally not really wanting to (just forced via abuse). Well, we do have a victimization culture - but I understand what you're saying and agree to a large extent. Well, Batman felt no sympathy for him - cause ultimately, the Joker's way of dealing with his pain - was unacceptable - as in he murders people - LOL. And who "would that be" - let me guess - LOL... I liked the scene in the dictator's palace and when he's training with the revolutionaries. It's not my favorite - but I like it among many. It would be something like: "And that's all I remember about it. (Woodstock)" "Well, I think I remembered something else - but I forgot it now.". He was supposed to be humorless. That was the humor! For instance, he replied to the "A sphincter says what?" thing - with the WRONG ANSWER - as in, he wasn't falling for the joke - which shocked Wayne and Garth. What to do? Not sure. I suppose I could laugh it off. Because: Time is much worse problem than motivation. Someone with a lot of time and self-motivation has a huge edge over someone with Fletcher on their butt all the time! Well, there is the problem of low-motivated students, who jerk off - and drop out. But Fletcher couldn't save them - just like his yelling won't make a difference to highly-motivated students. However, Fletcher might have had a good idea with bringing in other drummers. It's kind of like how a woman punishes a cheating man - by mentioning other guys (to make him jealous). There was a philosophy teacher at my university like that - always belittling certain students. Surprised he goes on year after year - considering that we now have "safe zones". But there's no point in being like that, honestly. The bottom line is that weak students are not changed by his chastisement. It's not like the military. I mean, come on, you see him for one hour a few times a week? View all replies >
