Hear hear.. The queen was never meant to be, and it's that that ruins this film as an 'Alien' movie. Apparently Cameron knew about the cut scene, but instead of continuing with the original life cycle, he decided to turn the Alien into a space ant. Aliens is a good movie, but a bad 'Alien' movie. To be fair, nothing about that scene was accurate. once the airlock started to open, the air moving from the ship to the vacuum of space would have been explosive, there's no way in hell that either would have been able to hang on, nor have the time to do so.
This also favours Ridley Scott's early belief that the Facehugger eggs were produced in Lab as he never liked the Queen Xenomorph laying eggs theory.
He actually went with the Alien itself creating the egg.. The alien would occasionality inject a victim with an enzyme that triggers it to mutate into an Ovimorph, from which the Facehugger would spring when disturbed, latching itself around it's victims head and placing a seed into it's digestive tract, that burst forth as the Chestburster, which would become the Alien, starting the cycle again. That would mean you'd need two victims to create one Xenomorph, and that's without the ones used as food. Making the Alien a solitary predator, and not a swarming space ant a certain Mr Cameron introduced in his sequel. Alien - The original, and by far the best AlienĀ³ (Directors Cut) - Did it's best bring the horror back to the franchise and undo some of the stuff introduced by James Cameron Prometheus - Ridley Scott returns to start to explain the xenomorph, introducing the Engineers. That seems to be forgotten sometimes Alien: Covenant - Not the movie Scott wanted to make, but was pressured into including the alien before he was ready., effectively skipping a movie. Watch the Ninth Circle (Chaos) fan edit if you can, it ties in with Prometheus much better than the theatrical edition Aliens - A superb movie, but not when including it in the Alien franchise. This should have been a stand-alone movie with it's own creature. It adds too much to the original concept of the Alien and takes far too much away from it. It loses the horror element, and is instead, basically a vietnam-esque action movie, using the xenomorph from Alien to carry it. Alien: Resurrection - A good start, but that horrid hybrid ruins what could have been a decent movie. The AvP movies are not, and should never be included in this franchise, in my opinion at least... AvP was a stupid movie Fox made to money grab from their two most successful (only?) sci-fi horror franchises, and Requiem was an horrendous movie. Neither should have been made IMHO Quite the opposite as far as I'm concerned. This movie, even with all it's flaws, did it's best to try and repair the damage done by Aliens.. Aliens in itself was a good movie, but it damaged the Alien created by Ridley Scott in the original. Cameron ignored the original, and truly disturbing, life cycle of the Alien, introducing his queen, and in so doing relegated the Alien from this 'tough son-of-a-bitch' and 'perfect organism' into nothing more than an overgrown ant that could be dispatched with a shotgun. He even changed the look of the Alien by redesigning the carapace because he couldn't recreate the original creature in the numbers required for his vietnam-esque war film with the budget he was given. Alien 3 brought the horror back into the series, it fixed the carapace, getting rid of the tyre tread Aliens introduced, highlighted by that scene where Ripley mistook the ducting for an Alien in the shadows, and it brought back the Alien as a terrifying, solitary predator. It even introduced this theory that the Alien takes on the form of the host, with this one being a fast quadraped instead of standing upright. Alien 3, in itself was a half decent movie, especially considering the interference Fincher received from Fox, but the Assembly Cut is very good, in my opinion at least. I believe it was written with the help of ST fans.. So some must like it. That besides, I understand your hatred of the show.. It's not exactly my favourite either, but to hope a series gets cancelled serves no purpose. It takes away a series that a lot of poeple obviously enjoy, and it doesn't negate the damage that you think it has already done to the franchise. Just let it be, watch it if you like, ignore it if you don't. If you don't like it, don't watch it.. Why do you hope it gets cancelled? View all replies >
