You're kidding, right? The people in the story are quite normal and relatable, including the working-class woman seduced by the populist political leader. This certainly isn't a "progressive checkbox ticking" exercise. Apart from the fact that the whole transhumanism storyline could be read as mockery of transgenderism (though the authors will obviously deny that), consider the way that the show has a consistently negative portrayal of radical left movements. The radical left come to power in Ukraine and persecute gay people. The radical left come to power in Spain later on in the story and persecute refugees. And if I recall correctly, Celeste (who is black) voted Conservative in the general election, contrary to progressive orthodoxy.
