Another thing is that Dexter lives in kind of a cartoon world where every city has multiple active serial killers who are seemingly at no risk of getting caught. I know the show doesn't want me to think he's batman, but when he's regularly taking out guys like Trinity and Kurt, is Dexter's activity really a net negative in terms of human suffering? That's not clear to me. So yeah, I think there would be real support for him.
I feel mostly indifferent. It's disappointing that we never got a "Dexter on the run" or "Dexter on trial/in prison" storyline, though to be fair to the New Blood team I don't know how feasible those would have been after the original finale. It wouldn't be super compelling to see him exposed without the Miami metro team there to react to it. As it stands this ending is OK, albeit a little rushed, and at the very least offers closure. I think people saying it's worse than the lumberjack finale are being silly.
Why don't you enlighten us then? I don't think the show made any culprit evident. And if it was Misty, I'd be interested in hearing how she pulled that off.
