The interesting thing is that the vast majority of American directors have been white guys, and most of them never felt the need to say, "I'm not gonna cast a person of color as the lead in my movies." Of course, they were never expected to cast people of color as leads in their movies. They didn't want to do it, and nobody asked them to do it. So they never had to say whether or not they would do it.
But a person of color who wants to make movies about people of color, and so decides to cast people of color as the leads in those movies . . . that person is racist?
