Why Do British Lawyers Wear Funny Wigs?
It doesn't make them look dignified. Anyone know? Should it be ditched?

Why does the Pope wear a funny hat? Ditto cardinals, archbishops, bishops, etc.
U.K. was basically "the law" from Waterloo to Hiroshima, and is still Number 2 today.
I don't think the Brits want to see Johnny Cochran in his electric-plum colored suit...
Those are hats. The barristers are wearing wigs that sit on top of their head which looks funny. They should at least show commitment and put the wig on completely covering their hair. Women barristers especially look dopey wearing a men's wig.

My criticism isn't about British common law. Just the dopey wigs.
Makeover is needed.
Couldn't agree more. Britian has hung onto some very silly traditions for hundreds of years. Dump the wigs, I say!
