Enough Food To Feed The World Ten Times Over?

I thought this was what I heard someone say on the radio (not by a talk show host) I think it was Cindy McCain, John McCain's widow, in a story addressing the famine in Gaza.

The world’s farmers produce enough food to feed 1.5x the global population. That’s enough to feed 10 billion (we are at 7.6 billion currently.)

I must have heard it wrong.

Maybe she confused 10x with 10 billion. Either way, no one should be starving and Israel shouldn't be using food as a weapon to kill civilians.

If we had enough food to feed the world over we wouldn't see such inflationary prices. Lot of the food goes bad as well if not consumed so are dumped (left to rot). We waste more than what is needed.
