Another perk of the Trending section on the home page

I'm seeing movies and TV shows I'd never heard of before. It's fun to check them out, and then see what people have just written about them.

I have to agree with you on that. Since this site's inception, I've actually discovered some new ones out there as well. It's a handy little tool that I use frequently while browsing here or when starting up threads or replying to them.

I haven't been here very long, so had no idea what that Trending section was until a friendly poster here told me. For those of us who haven't been here since the beginning, I think it should be renamed something like Trending Boards or Trending Forums to make it clear.

I thought it was about trending shows and films on the site, based on … ratings?? Something else. So I didn't pay any attention to it.

Now that I know what it is, I check it often throughout the day, or night, as the case may be :)

Yeah I find it to be a pretty good feature too. Jim somehow set it up to where a film or TV series "trends" based off how many people are currently on each board at one time. This will likely also increase your chances of someone responding to your post or reply right away too.

Very true. There was no way of knowing which boards were most or recently active over there, aside from assuming the most recent films or shows were most likely to be very active. The problem with that was also realizing that those films/shows were the most likely to be trolled, because they were the most likely boards to attract ATTENTION to those threads.

ATTENTION, ATTENTION, I NEEEEEED ATTENTION! :D

The trending section is a thing of wonder for a site like this. I believe it's really helped to boost activity and show there is any to begin with on the individual boards. I always look seeing what's on there when I log in.

Other sites are copying

Which ones? I'd like to see what it looks like

I just signed up for this site because of that feature. One of the big problems at IMDB was there were thousands of boards and you never knew which were active. You always had to know which specific movie you wanted to discuss.

reply

Good point. I'm sure there were a lot of boards over there that would have interested me, if I'd had any way to know about them.

reply

Yes

They had a star meter to know board activity, genius.

reply

Yes, it's kind of a nice feature that can help to drive up traffic to many shows/movies. I'm probably an oddball in these parts, mostly watching the older productions, and not having been to a movie theater since the late 90's.

It would be kind of nice if you could see the trending section at the top of the General Subforum, or really, maybe have it visible in all of the subforums.

reply

Thanks Catbookss I'm glad you like it. I've actually discovered quite a few new things I'd like to watch from the Trending section myself. Now I just need to find the time!

reply

It's a fun way to discover new shows and films you'd have never known about otherwise, isn't it? Ha, you need to take a day off, Jim! Just kick off your shoes, sink into your couch, and spend a day relaxing watching the shows or films you've just discovered. You deserve it.

reply

Sad to say we don't have the option of ignoring some people whose tastes run toward trashy....heck, you can't even call it "erotica," because that's too high class for what they're watching. I realize some guys' best chance at getting close to a woman is seeing her on their TV screens, but I'd prefer not to know what the Neanderthals are having a wank about.

reply

Why does it seem like we put such a price on women? I mean seriously. I would think there would be an equal footing that women would want to be close to a guy as a guy would, with a woman. Women are not prizes to be won nor good/bad regardless of if they get close to you or not. I could probably live my whole life alone because I would think wanting to get close to a woman should be an equal choice. I should not have to influence a woman to get close to me, nor should she have to feel sorry for me, in order to get close.

I mean, if I spent all my life wondering about how to entice a woman, I probably would have lost my job, be behind on bills, and just generally missing out on things that I like. Dating and marrying should not be draining. While most people are so rushed into it, I like to think I have an abundance of wealth that will at least carry me to death. My hobbies and passions explored is way easier to satisfy than wanting to get creative and making another person like you because of it.
