Recently imported all movie/tv/actor boards. The more I use it, the more I marvel and am stunned at how remarkable the UI is. I'll go so far to say that with some minor tweaking, it can easily trounce IMDB. It looks and feels completely modern, with lightning fast response times, streamlined interface (which is nevertheless extremely sophisticated), and with a wealth of features I never thought I'd see implemented.

I know many here were wary of a point system (a la Reddit) but I find it fascinating especially since you can apply points retroactively. You can even embed multimedia onto the posts, and yet the site still refreshes very fast. You can follow boards, although no individual threads yet, and the sidebar which contains recent and featured boards appear to be updating in real time. I'm so impressed, I can't stop gushing about it.

As a test, I was looking up some lesser known actors such as Nick Robinson, and they are there and all the posts are intact.

I've never been there. What's the URL of the main site? Www.hashed.io?

I don't want to leave here. I've liked this site from the beginning and feel that Jim's heart is in the right place. I don't like Reddit, and yeah, don't like a point system.

All I really want is the way this site was in the first several weeks, and for it to continue to grow, but WITHOUT trolls or a tolerance of them (without, at the same time, being OVERLY zealous).

Yep, that URL should take you to the front page. All recent threads are collected in the recent activity thread.

I'm torn too as I've come to like the people I've met here and enjoy reading their posts (likewise, TMDb has also established a relatively small but dedicated community). I still intend to post here in the meantime, until there is an obvious front runner. As of now, a lot of these sites still have their pros and cons. However, I feel like Hashed.io is deserving of some recognition which it currently isn't getting so I'll chime in there as well. As much as I enjoyed the IMDb's boards, I always thought the boards themselves were clunky, so it's exciting to see someone bring it to the modern age rather than try to completely replicate it.

Thanks. I've heard it mentioned here a few times, but paid no attention because I liked it here so much. I visited and lurked on tMDb before coming here, but didn't like it nearly as well. Personal preference, not a slam against tMDb, or any other site.

I feel the same. Have come to like many people here and enjoy reading their posts. Unfortunately a few of my favorites have either left, or been busy and not posted for a while. I agree, there are pros and cons about each site. For me, I'd thought this site had far more pros and that's why I began to call it home, and forget the few others I'd been to. I'll take a look at hashed.io and see what I think, as backup for here. Thanks.

I bookmarked the site, and briefly checked it out, looks nice. But for some reason I can't get it to come up on my tablet?

Yeah, I got a white screen when trying to access the site on my phone. I asked about it in the feedback thread.

Hopefully they fix it, because it would be nice to get it while mobile. I briefly searched for a few actresses that were in obscure older shows that I watched, and lo and behold, their message boards actually came up! I can find them here as well, but the message boards are missing.

The mobile site is now working for some people. I'm now getting a javascript error but I think it's being worked on. The site owner is also planning to release an app.

The site is still not too active I'm afraid. There is potential though. The guy definitely knows what he's doing. It's the only place I can go right now to read boards for people.

Just tried it again, and it still doesn't work on the default Android browser. But it does work on my Ad Blocker browser, so at least I can use it on my mobile if I want to now.

Yes, that's important to me as well. Take this obscure Canadian actress for example. After IMDB closed down, half of the limited information out there on her would have pretty much been lost forever.

All I get is a blank white screen so that site is worthless to me.

Agreed, we need to continue to improve this site, not fly to others, but thanks for letting us know about this. I checked William Daniels, who has no posts on here, and he had posts there going back 14 years! I also checked Buster Keaton, who has no posts here, or there either, though he had plenty on IMDb! Can anything at this point be done about posts which existed on IMDb not imported to MovieChat so far? Thanks.

Hi, just noticed you are looking for Buster Keaton. I know imdbarchive.com has him. That site has the most complete archives online. Why not just give it a look.

NZer is right. That site does contain material this one does not about which NZer kindly informed me and I am very glad to learn. Why not continue to improve this site rather than complaining about people using others which provide additional material this one currently does not?

If MovieChat will follow suggestions on how to improve and continue to add content now found on other sites, it can become greater than IMDb and all the other sites as well!

Yes, but even right now, MovieChat is better. The site OP recommended is not even working on smartphone. It is simply broken.

The is a recent activity page. Everything is weeks or months old!
