What does your profile name mean?

Some are obvious, some are not.

If you had to choose another what would it be ?

Mine is boring. It's a nickname from back in the day.

If I had to pick another one it would be
HankMarducas.

What does it all mean?

reply

It has no particular meaning. My profile pic on IMDb was a face drawn on a potato, so it kinda fitted the image. Kept it for this site (for continuity purposes)

reply

That's cool.
Now I really want to see that potato.

reply

It can be seen here

Haha.

You could have went a few different directions with that one.
Probably good you picked the one you did.

reply

Cool thread! Mine is my rapping name since 2001.

You're right it is kinda boring, but
strangely it does work. :)

Where did this come from?

I now feel bad that I did that.
Maybe I've been the problem the whole time.

That is an understatement my dear.

You have way too much time on your hands.

You really shouldn't cover up those eyes.

It means "He Who Reads Moviechat on iPad"

I named myself after Texas Jack Vermillion , one of Wyatt Earp's friends and sometimes- deputies.

reply

Haha.
You're still way ahead of me.

I thought for sure you were from Texas and your
name was Jack.

reply

We'll meet again, don't know where, don't know when but I know we'll meet again some sunny day

reply

Wow. Old school I like it.

Also liked the Cash version.

reply

Ah. An homage to Dr. Strangelove, and/or Vera Lynn.

😎

reply

Dr Strangelove it is

reply

An excellent film.

😎

reply

Shorthand for

"A jolly good fellow".

reply

We certainly think highly of ourselves don't we. :)

Welcome aboard.

reply

Because you like me, you really like me!

I just wanted a name that sounded approachable. I've used it for other forums.

Thanks for the welcome :)

reply

Ah, you should have shortened it as AJollyGF 😜

reply

Mine is the one I used on the old IMDb boards. I started posting there during a period of watching war movies and documentaries while getting to better know my dad, who served. "Bravo" is military phonetic. I chose it to reflect the fact that I wanted to use these boards to talk about what I love and connect with people that way.

The underscore is habit taken from a programming language and probably the only thing I remember about it.

If I were to pick another name it'd be wtfrequency, because I'm actually okay with not always cheering everything. Also it pretty much sums up my take on the IMDb board closure decision-handling-aftermath which sent me here (thank you, MovieChat). And I'm an R.E.M. fan.

Is there a story behind HankMarducas?

reply

A thread back from the dead.

Thanks for sharing.
I thought maybe it meant that you were accustomed to getting standing ovations.

Hank Marducas was the name of J.K. Simmons best friend in I love You Man.
I have no idea why but every time I think about it I crack up.

reply

Underrated movie.

reply

Yeah, back from the dead, baby.

Thanks for asking!
Haha, no.

Ah "...and of course my best friend Hank Marducas."
It's Simmons's line reading that does it for me.

reply

Mine's come from the appreciation of those agents who help sell houses and apartments.

reply

I salute you sir.

Thank you for remembering an extremely under appreciated group of people
and all the sacrifices they have made. Kudos.

reply

It means that I've been in Cyberspace for decades too long.

Nonetheless, I am the original R_Kane. Accept no substitutes.

22 years, and counting.

reply

I've tried the generic version and greatly prefer the original.

reply

Is your name a play on the word "arcane?"
