Directors Who Are More Interesting Than Their Work?

Orson Welles

reply

Edward D. Wood Jr. (He's so interesting, he got a movie made of his career!)

Also...
Uwe Boll and Paul W.S. Anderson. I want to watch biopics about them.

reply

Hmmm, I'll check them out. Thanks.

I had said Alfred Hitchcock but his work was just as interesting as he was.

I have to disagree with you about Orson Welles. I loved his work.

reply

Fair enough :)

Tommy Wiseau. The man is a mystery wrapped in an enigma. And he's infinitely more interesting than his work (if you can call it that).

A friend of mine mentioned this guy when I asked! I'll definitely check him out... Is there a certain interview, video on Youtube? Thanks.

reply

Umm... I can't think of a specific one, but knowing the guy, I'd say any. You might look at some scenes from The Room as well (if you haven't already). He plays the main character, who is basically an Author Avatar.

reply

Yeah, I wanted to mention him too but I forgot his name. Lol. I read about Tommy Wiseau in IMDb trivia section and it's very interesting, at least about how he produced his movie The Room. I haven't even watched the movie.

There is a movie being made, based on a book by one of the cast of The Room, The Disaster Artist. It might even be finished already. And a documentary, Room Full of Spoons (haven't seen it). Wiseau tried to ban that one from a film festival (or maybe he even succeeded, I don't remember). He's a character, that Wiseau.

As for the movie itself, it was on Youtube the last time I checked. As far as bad movies go, it's one of the more enjoyable. And, at least he tried. He failed epically, but I can respect the effort.

John Cassavetes is very interesting, but so are his movies.

reply

Neil Breen. His films are "interesting" to say the least. To me, Guy just seems like an alien who's trying to learn of our ways

Michael Bay

David Lynch.
