the best last shot in a film?

Identity
North By Northwest

reply

Stalker with the moving glass shot.
Citizen Kane with the Rosebud explained.

reply

Raiders of the Lost Ark
Days of Wine and Roses
Some Like It Hot

"Nobody is perfect"... lol that's an unforgettable scene.

reply

On the Beach - "There is still time... Brother".

Psycho - The transition from Norman to the car, with the superimposed skull.

reply

Yes, "Psycho"

Or "Vertigo," with Scottie possibly about ready to throw himself to his doom

reply

Well, it's not technically the last shot, but I'm going with Slim Pickens enthusiastically riding the atomic bomb at the end of Dr. Strangelove.

reply

Close enough.

How about Joey calling out to a possibly-dead Shane to come back in "Shane."

Or "It Follows"?

reply

"French Connection II" Literally, it was the last shot.

reply

Poltergeist.

reply

House of Flying Daggers (2004). A movie only saved entirely by one last scene.

reply

Resident evil chapter.

reply

The Thing.

reply

Invasion of the Body Snatchers ('78 remake)

reply

Now that is a good one! Must watch that again sometime soon...

reply

Citizen Kane
Baby Jane
Strangelove...meaning the true last shot
Third Man
Casablanca
Silence Of The Lambs

reply

Hm, The Usual Suspects isn't really a shot.

The last shot of Scream gives me chills. The combo of an early dawn sky and the background music, together with the tragic events that just transpired, is just perfect.

Disney animations often have great last shots as well. BatB, Pocahontas, even Finding Nemo.
