Any Ladies Here???? MEN NEED NOT APPLY!

Just wondering if there are many of us women left here on this site.
This is starting to feel like a Boy's Club around here. I'm not liking this. Where are the women?

reply

Female, but I'm assuming my username screams that. I'm just not very active! I'll work on it :)

reply

You’re doing fine! Post when you actually have something to say. Don’t just post because you’re starved for attention. You’re not doing that, and it’s great!

reply

Yes! She is not doing that.

reply

Someone else might be posting to get attention but not waitress

reply

:D thanks. I try not to be annoying haha.

reply

You are not annoying at all. 😀 I find you delightful

reply

aw, you are so nice. :) thank you.

reply

Now I have to ask the million dollar question

reply

and whats that?

reply

.in my best csi one liner voice. Have you now, or ever, been a waitress

reply

haha I haven't. Being a waitress would be a tough gig!
My username is from my favorite show of all time. :)

reply

Haha I got that. I just thought I’d ask

reply

:) I do work with the public. I can't imagine having to deal with some people and their food, oh man talk about nightmares.

reply

True that! When I was in college I worked at an Applebee’s . They wanted me to bartend but I said hell no. I worked in the kitchen. Far away from the public.

reply

You’re not annoying. Don’t give it another thought. I wish that we had more posters like you, and Margo and Stratego and Dazed and Catbookss and HarvardBarbie and GunWillTravel and SentientMeat and AngularTurnip and LeiaOfLothlorian and TheLovelyAnomaly and strnz and everyone else who actually thinks before posting, is not an attention whore and who is not a nut job. I know that I’m leaving some out. My list is not complete.

reply

I won't. Some people on MC are just insane but you know its whatever. I don't lose any sleep over it :) Most though are super nice, funny and respectful. Hope to see this place around for awhile!

reply

Nice to meet you! Hey! I'm just happy to know there are more of our species here! See you around!

reply

Nice to meet you too! :) Hope you have a great Sunday.

reply

You too! Thanks for the response! There are more of us than I thought!

reply

Can I get a club sandwich, fries, and iced tea? Thanks.

reply

Sure thing! Curly or seasoned fries? :)

reply

Aww, no steak fries? Seasoned, then.

reply

You want steak fries? I'll get you steak fries. That will be 6 even.

reply

See, that's the kind of service that brings in a 100% tip.

reply

:D sweeeet.

reply

What would Charlie say?

reply

haha I'm not sure but he would be adorable saying it!

reply

He really would, wouldn't he.

In between bashing rats of course.

reply

Yes and naturally he's rat king so he has to keep everyone in line.

reply

He also eats spaghetti at the movies which is simply genius.

reply

What's your spaghetti policy here? -while eating spaghetti out of a ziplock bag-

reply

What's spa? I feel that you're trying to say a word but not finish it.

I just watched this episode a few days ago.
Still cracks me up every time.

MissMargo:

If I had my druthers....I would much rather be surrounded by a bunch of men than a bunch of women. I do enjoy my “eye candy!” I have much more fun with men....

reply

There you are! I know you like your men! I have to wonder how much candy there is around these parts.
Sound like another thread in the making?
What should I title it?
"Any Good Looking Gentlemen Here? Trolls Need Not Apply! 😄

reply

My guess is: not a lot o’ candy. Probly a lot o’ candy wrappers.

reply

MissMargo, sorry I’m late replying to your post. Somehow I missed it and the bell didn’t ring! My granddaughter has been visiting for the past two weeks. But, back to the topic of delicious “eye candy”. At my age everyone is younger than me so I would say most of the male sex is eye candy!
How about “Are You A Lollipop, Lollipop Sweeter Than Candy On A Stick?”

Wow! I can just imagine the answers with the innuendos we would receive!

Right now I’m so damn tired from driving my granddaughter back home to Florida from Mississippi, so the eye candy will have to wait....zzzzzz

reply

LOL! I'm not so sure if I want to read some of the responses we'd get.

You sure do put on the miles! Get some shut eye.

reply

I feel the same about women. I would prefer to be around women instead of me. Love your opinion ksp

reply

Much thanks! Right back at ya! I love this site when we are having a good time. No trolls needed. We all are different from one another, may have differing opinions, may not agree on certain topics, but it’s great we can opine without discord. Makes for a better board, something to look forward to in the morn, and to check up on everyone before we snooze😴.

Now everyone can lower their feet and take off the high boots! I’m finished dishing out the Saccharine! 😏 🙄

reply

👍 Love this comment, ksp!

reply

I second that emotion!

reply

I’m learning from the best peacemaker ever on a board....that honor goes to you MissMargo. I’m so tired 😴 I wrote MissMagoo! Sure glad I caught it! Oh lordy me!

reply

And much thanks to you also, M’ Lady! LOL! I’ve been binge watching Downton Abbey and I think the dialogue is rubbing off on me!

reply

I'm watching so much British TV that I've started adopting their lingo! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

reply

☺️ Too funny! But, truth be told, British TV and Aussie TV in my opinion have the best programming. I subscribe to Acorn TV, BBC America is in my channel list along with PBS when broadcasting a Brit production like “Downton Abbey”. I definitely have to turn on the subtitle option! “Father Brown” is a hoot showing on Amazon Prime Video.
The Aussie program “Dr. Blake Mysteries” is a favorite. And of course Endeavor! Too many to mention, M’ Lady.:-)

reply

Endeavour! 👍 I haven't seen much Aussie TV. I see that Dr Blake is on Netflix - I added it to my watch list. I never got on the Downton Abby train, mostly because I missed the first two or three series and I didn't want to start in the middle. I figured I catch up to it eventually.

reply

Female. I just don't post a lot.

reply

Glad to see you still here! I'm just happy to know that there ARE women who post on this site.
See you around!

reply

I'm here! Sort of.

Been on a very intense, long search for a new rental all this time, and boy has it been stressful. Only found out a place finally came through yesterday, and I have to be out in 8 days!

Still won't be around much because there'll be planning, packing, moving, and settling in to do, but the most difficult part is now over.

reply

good to hear from you. moving is stressful.

reply

Thanks, Hownos :). Yes, it is, and looking for a rental here has been even more so.

reply

Very happy to hear a little something from you, Cat! Good luck with your move. I hope you have help.

reply

Thanks, GlenEllyn :). I'm taking a bit of a day off to rest today. Yes, I hired a professional organiser/mover, and he's the best! Honestly, I wouldn't be able to do all of this without him.

reply

Hey Cat,

Did you finally make the move out of the Gold Rush state? This past year has found you racking up the road miles with your cross country drive and the far too many evacuations. Now this move!

BTW, were your ears burning earlier in the week? We watched the movie “Only the Brave” about the Granite Mountain Hotshots and their heroic effort in fighting the Yarnell, Arizona wildfire. Everyone should see this movie...it stays with you. Anyhow, I told my husband about your more than one ordeal when faced with the evacuations due to the 2017 CA fires followed by the horrific Jan. 2018 mudslides. You gave us a firsthand look with your posts away from the tv news. You have had one hell of a year! Your life became “Hope for the best...but expect the worse”! Let’s pray for a better future 2018.

reply

Ksp! Good to see you again.

No, I'm staying put for at least a year, moving back to the safe and familiar area where I was living before. I need safety, peace, quiet, familiarity. 9 months in, I'll see where I am there as far as where to buy and permanently settle.

Ha, if they were burning, no doubt I was too obsessed with finding a place to notice, as the clock continued to count down. I haven't heard about Only the Brave, but it sounds good. Still, having too recently gone through all this, I'm steering clear of anything that'll hit too close to home, if you know what I mean.

It has been one hell of a year. One hell of a last 5 years before that. But, I finally see light at the end of the tunnel!! A week from now, I'll already have spent 2 nights in my peaceful new place :). They have 3 ducks, 2 chickens, and a cat there, too! Very quiet and peaceful, on half an acre, lots of fruit trees. Kind of a mini farm. The cottage is only a studio -- much smaller than I was looking for -- but everything else about it is great. I'll just have to learn how to become a minimalist and adapt.

Thank you 🌷

reply

Sounds heavenly! A bit of peace is in order.

reply

Definitely, on both scores!

reply

Sounds great after what you’ve been through. Peace, quiet and no stress is the right prescription! 😸😻 Best of luck to you with God’s blessings sprinkled upon you!🤗

If my husband goes before me I may look into a tiny home. I would definitely have to become a minimalist....downsizing from a 2600 sq.ft. home to under a 600 sq.ft. tiny home. I may move back to Florida.

Re: “Only the Brave”, these brave souls and others like them were/are fierce, loyal and are truly our heroes. Along with all first responders and our military.

reply

Yes, the very best prescription! Add a 🐶 to it, which will happen probably sometime in the next month or so, and I'll be good to go again. Thanks for the luck and god's sprinkled blessings! 😘

I think you mean a small house. Those tiny houses are only 100-400 square feet. I looked at a nice 1-bedroom that was 600 square feet, and would have taken it, but no dogs allowed :(. It was pretty roomy, but coming from a 2600 square foot home, yes, you'd have to go minimalist and adapt.

I agree, the firefighters, and all first responders, are our real-life heroes! They have my undying gratitude, and the undying gratitude of so many others.

reply

I wasn’t referring to the footprint which is about 400 sq. ft. The lofts add more sq. footage. View the following:

http://www.wfaa.com/article/entertainment/television/programs/good-morning-texas/tiny-homes-making-a-big-impact-in-north-texas/497010616

The last one shown belongs to my first cousin. Look at the nice kitchen with full size refrigerator and bar. Beautiful porch with fireplace! He said it took about 7 months to downsize from a huge home. They are getting ready to retire and want to travel. He was on the job site every day during construction. The bedroom & bath weren’t filmed due to them being at work. He later sent me a video of the two rooms. The shower is full size, stacked washer and dryer. A lot of home with that small footprint.

reply

I didn't finish reading your post before watching the video, and was just about to ask if you'd posted that link before, because I remember it! Especially the one with that outdoor area with a fireplace, which is very cool.

Your cousin's is the one with the outdoor fireplace?

I agree, it's a lot of house with a small footprint.

They're making them better and better these days. Personally, I'm not into lofts. Last thing I want to do is to have to climb ladders to get to anything at all. If it's merely an area for storage, which you'd access only very rarely, that could work.

I don't know how you feel about it, and it's nothing imminent for you anyway, but I'm actually getting excited about going minimalist! I spent a whole evening and night watching YouTube videos on that exact subject. It appeals to me, as I've always been drawn to multi-purpose things, and love having things put away, so cleaning is easy. Easy = GOOD.

reply

Late getting back to you. Granddaughter is here from Fla. and we went out to dinner. Anyhow, I may have posted the link before...can’t recall. Yes, my cousin’s home is the last one featured with the fireplace on the porch. He informed me the porch area is not part of the permitted length limit. The loft area is for the grandkid’s sleepovers...not for them. Their bedroom is ground level with nice amenities. Overhead cabinets, built-in nightstands on each side of the bed, large sliding doors for closets. I would say the bedroom is much like a nice RV.

It is becoming imminent for me in regards to downsizing. I feel like a bird who needs to prepare the nest. It’s on my mind constantly as my husband is failing. I have this big house and contents which will be a difficult task to minimize. My upstairs hallway is lined with packing boxes.

You would not believe the cookbooks I have! Don’t ask me why....I don’t cook much anymore...I just enjoy cookbooks. Both sides of the attic are filled with items I haven’t seen in six years! One side contains Christmas decorations that I purchased in 2008 for this dream home. They’re still in the boxes...never used! The closet under the interior stairs is jam packed with boxes I packed in 2006...mostly family photos which no one wants. Oh, a brand new 7 ft Christmas tree never unpacked. I do have a daunting task before me.

reply

Thanks so much, Shogie. I haven't had a chance to read around much, but it's nice to know I've been missed and the positive mentions.

I'm going to have to throw a MC party or something once I'm moved in and all of this is behind me! Can't wait.

reply

Ill be first in line and ill bring the wine
Best Wishes🍷🍷

reply

And I’ll be there to toast with my red Solo cup! Yippee!

reply

Bless your heart! I'm happy to hear that you are ok and that you have a place, soon to be a home, all lined up!
Take your time settling in. Just promise that you'll occasionally drop by in the future. We don't want to lose you!

reply

Thank you, Margo :). You can't imagine how sick I was of haunting Craigslist and all the other sites, plus more out of the box ways of looking, and even thinking about finding a place! I don't want to have to do this again for a while, that's for damned sure. Had to do it ... this is the 6th time within a year.

Oh, no worries, I'll be back for sure. This upcoming week will be a push, but after that I'll be able to gradually participate in more or less the way I could before.

reply

I can't even begin to imagine moving that many times in one year. That is too much of a roller coaster ride for anyone to have to endure.
You have also had to deal with so many other things in the process. May this move be the last in a long time, and may you have a bit of peace and happiness in the coming year!

reply

Thankfully, I didn't have to move all those times! It's that the rental before this current one was supposed to be only 2 months initially (an AirBnB), so after a month I had to start looking again. Then she offered me to stay 2 more months, rinse and repeat, and finally for 3 more months. I really did love it there, so always happily agreed to stay longer, but wish I hadn't had to keep searching for a new place every month or two.

But it has been a roller coaster ride, and I'm looking forward to this being the last move for a long time! Small though it may be and than I wanted, it's so peaceful. I know it's where I belong, for a while.

reply

Oh, I see. I somehow misunderstood. That's still horrible..... living in limbo.

I hope you'll be happy in the country. You say the new digs is small. Will you have to rent storage space for some of your possessions while living there?

reply

Well, you couldn't have known that 3 of those searches involved being in one place. That's unusual. But yeah, living in limbo so often, and having to spend so much time looking for a place in a tight housing market, is bad.

I've had 3 storage units for a year. (Expensive.) Had thought I'd get a place big enough so I could finally move everything out of them and be reunited with my things, but that's not going to happen. I think I'll be able to fit most if not all of the things in my current place into the new one, since there aren't many of them.

I know I'm going to love living on this mini farm!!

reply

Cat, we've missed you around here! I'm glad you were able to find a new home. Promise you're gonna throw a housewarming party with lots of cute, fluffy bunnies!!!🐰🐰🐰

reply

Stratego! 🐰💋👠

I've missed you too, you vixen! Yes, I'll throw a virtual housewarming party once I'm moved in, and there will be plenty of 🐰🐰🐰🐰🐰🐰🐰🐰🐰🐰🐰🐰🐰🐰🐰🐰🐰🐰🐰🐰🐰!

reply

Yay! I'll bring the 🍶🍾🍷🍸🍹🍺🍻🥂🥃 and my VHS tape of St. Elmo's Fire!!!

reply

I'm hoping this isn't the case.
You know where my heart stands.

reply

I already know....
Let's keep our ladies!!!!
The men in these woods,( you? not included...) tend to be NEANDERTHALS!

reply

Actually, I’m more like a Cro-Magnon.

reply

Sorry R_Kane. You have always been a gentleman.... to me.

reply

Thank you, Margo.

reply

Let's keep them, appreciate them and multiply them!

reply

I somehow feel that we have lost that here. It's time to get back that Lovin Feelin!

reply

If it was missing then I totally agree.

We had a love, a love, a love you don't find everyday
So don't, don't, don't, don't let it slip away

reply

I'm willing, Miss M. What say, old horse, we smoke the pipe of peace?

I said that's OK doc, I have decided to become a lesbian.

What a coincidence!
