Movies or series you’ve bailed out on❓

By bailed out on, I mean you just couldn't continue watching it for whatever reason. There are many different reasons, of course, all personal.

I just gave up on Whitechapel (2009-2013) that was rated 8/10. I don’t like the jumpy style – from here to there, and there – just bing, bing, bing. It drives me crazy when I can’t really see what this or that was. Much of the time the lighting was so dark I couldn’t really determine what was happening. I get that they want to set a dark, sinister mood, but sometimes it goes too far – certainly not the only show to do it.

Gambit (2012) I grabbed this DVD from my library the last time I was there. I like Colin Firth and Alan Rickman, so why not? I didn’t know about its rather mediocre rating of 5.7/10 before I chose it. I watched about 20 minutes before chucking it back in its case to go back. Too stupid for my taste, even with Firth and Rickman.

Quantico. The first season was good, but I got bored out of my mind after season 2. Same with The Following. Season 1 was great, then it's like they just repeated the first season all over again. I might give The Following another change and try watching it again. I was told it picked up again toward the end.

Most shows, to be honest. I'm going with Buffy because I absolutely love the first 3 seasons. But I quit early on in season 5.

Csi Miami about 9 years ago. It was ok at the start but they turned horatio into some kind of super hero.
Law and and order a far superior drama ... no dumbing down for the masses 🤔

Got about 25 minutes through Napoleon Dynamite, couldn't stand it. The scene with the cow and the school bus was funny, but the rest was grating.

Did the same with Tropic Thunder, but maybe only 15 to 20 minutes. I was bored silly and didn't find a single amusing thing in it. Really hated Tom Cruise's character, too.

Movies:
The Lobster: Stupid and cruel.
The Shape of Water: Sick and twisted, sex with a fish, or reptile, or something.
Star Wars: What can I say?

TV:
Designated Survivor: Started well, but then descended rapidly into nonsense and politics.
Shades of Blue: Just too stupid.
This is Us: Good first season, but then became stupid and maudlin with irritating characters.
The Gifted: Watched Four Episodes: boring.
Timeless: Started well, but then became stupid.

Give me some time to think, and I may come up with some more.

The Blacklist (2013). I loved the first season, thought the second one was okay, but lost interest by the third.
Sense8 (2015). It jumps around too much, between too many different characters, and doesn't seem to have much of a plot. I gave it one season and decided not to watch anymore.
Pretty much every police procedural show I give up on at some point, even if I like the characters.

I gave upnon Lost when they started moving the island. Also, by then two of the characters' faces made me want to punch things.

reply

I know the feeling of wanting to punch a face or two. 👊

reply

Have you ever done a 180 degree turnaround on a face you (used to) find punchable? 😂

reply

At the moment, not that I recall. I'll get back to you if I think of someone.

I think I'm finally done with Supernatural. I quit on it once before, and went back, but this time I don't think I'm coming back.

One movie I bailed out on was The Foam of the Days (or Mood Indigo...? I don't know why movies need two English titles...) You know that antsy feeling you get, that makes you want to just get up and walk away from something? This movie gave me that. It was just all too much, and I'd even call it annoyingly over creative visually. I just couldn't take it!

reply

I've had that feeling, too. Time to escape from this craziness. 🤪
