Movies or series you’ve bailed out on❓

By bailed out on, I mean you just couldn't continue watching it for whatever reason. There are many different reasons, of course, all personal.

I just gave up on Whitechapel (2009-2013) that was rated 8/10. I don’t like the jumpy style – from here to there, and there – just bing, bing, bing. It drives me crazy when I can’t really see what this or that was. Much of the time the lighting was so dark I couldn’t really determine what was happening. I get that they want to set a dark, sinister mood, but sometimes it goes too far – certainly not the only show to do it.

Gambit (2012) I grabbed this DVD from my library the last time I was there. I like Colin Firth and Alan Rickman, so why not? I didn’t know about its rather mediocre rating of 5.7/10 before I chose it. I watched about 20 minutes before chucking it back in its case to go back. Too stupid for my taste, even with Firth and Rickman.

I gave up on Dexter after the Tom Hanks kid season (S5 maybe....)
That was stupid
It was a great show for the first few years

When the Fairies showed up on True Blood i jumped ship immediately
Werewolves, vampires, shape shifters...I was on board
But Fairies?!?
Seriously dumb

reply

Fairies and fantasy are always too much for me.

Two come to mind recently

Movie - The Shape of Water. A Disney film with masturbation is how I would describe it

TV Series - The Looming Tower. Loved the book on the 9/11 attacks but it didn't translate well.

I couldn't get through the first episode of Game of Thrones. Not my cup of tea

reply

I never even attempted Game of Thrones. As you said, not my cup of tea.

reply

I haven't either. I already know it's not my kind of show.

reply

Game of Thrones is not really my genre, but I think its worth watching since its so well made.

reply

There's plenty of films and shows that are well made but I simply can't get into

reply

American horror story.I only watched the pilot episode.Just didn't seem like it was for me.

Channel Zero (Season 1) - There's only...............so much of.........................people.........talking.................................................like this.....................for what they think................................................is dramatic..............before............................I want to....................................quit.

The Mist (4 episodes) - Rubbish. I'd rather watch the end of the film on repeat than watch anymore of the series.

The Brit tv series “The Tunnel”. I’m watching it and finally realized why it was so familiar....we had “The Bridge”. I don’t need to see the same dark, gritty, murdering programming,(woman cut in half, torso and legs laying across border of two countries. I didn’t watch it long enough to see if it would be as salacious as “The Bridge”.

BTW, Glen..., I’m almost finished with Whitechapel...stuck with it.

The werewolf series “Bitten”...way too much gore and also too many salacious scenes. I watched the first season then it sunk into the depths.

6 Feet Under was good for 2 seasons but then went to hell.

reply

I gave up on obscur series like Dexter (stopped after season 1), Breaking BAd (after season 1) and game of thrones (season 2 I think)

Main reasons are; time consuming and not rewarding enough in the end.

Game of thrones is the only one I would go back to someday

reply

"Time consuming and not rewarding enough in the end" strikes me as very good reasons to jump ship. Well put.
