Do you have any tattoos?

I have never been pierced or tattooed. I've kind of always wanted a tattoo, but I've never been able to decide on an image I would want permanently on me. For a while I was planning on getting a slice of pizza on the bottom on my foot, but I can no longer remember why I wanted that. It sounded like a good idea when I was stoned. I'm just glad I never got it. I feel like even the coolest image I could decide on might seem as dumb as the slice of pizza eventually. You have any tattoos?

reply

Nope. I used to want an eagle with 2 swirling snakes as head(s) when I was in college. Never done it.

reply

Nope at all.. I don’t want any girlfriends with tattoos either

reply

Why are you randomly replying to me? You should instead reply to the thread starter, PeteRose.

reply

It’s a mistake..I wanted to reply to Pete Rose..

But randomly?? No this is the first time I know you exist

reply

None. I'm old enough to remember that the only people who had tattoos were sailors, truck drivers, felons and carnies.

reply

yes and I want several dozen more. I love everything about tattoos.

reply

It's kind of amusing to see the cultural divide on this subject. Older users still hold serious stigma surrounding the concept, and you're so far the only tattooed responder (and I believe you're close ish to my age.) I don't have anything against tattoos, I just want to really be sure I love the art, and can't commit to anything less than amazing, which I haven't found yet. Care to share what some of your tattoos are?

reply

I was 27 before I got my first one. (I turned 32 Saturday) charliekelly had told me about how people react to tattoos but I hadn't experienced it first hand. He has about a dozen so he knows how people look and treat him. My ex husband had forbidden me to get any, thought they were disgusting and vile. Plus he didn't like needles so he made that decision for me like many other things. Anyway, it is hilarious to see the difference in opinion. I work in retail and mine are visible so I get questions some times but mostly looks until the person gets to know me and they realize that I'm not a felon or "low-life." I've always loved movies and television so I've got a sleeve planned with that in mind. So far, I have a bobs burgers tattoo and a green clover from its always sunny in philly. (charliekelly and I match with the sunny tattoo)
On my other arm, I have a pink/purple carnation in honor of my mother who passed away (cancer) when I was 12. They mean something to me, not to anyone else and that's okay! I personally think everyone should have one if you want one. I love getting them, I love looking at others, I love thinking about them, I love planning them, etc etc. They make me feel sexier.

reply

Those sound great! Thanks for sharing.

I hate to see ladies with tats. It's so odd that a beautiful lady would put tats all over her body. It takes away from that beauty.

reply

I'm not exactly the target audience, but I think tattoos can be very sexy. She's not really doing it for how others will feel about it. If it makes her feel sexy, that's what's important.

reply

Thanks Pete! :) I appreciate that so much.

I hardly ever hear a complaint from a man about my tattoos. Most of the time its just a look of disapproval, but from older women. Maybe once I have more, I'll hear that line of talk. My dad has asked that I not get one on my face or neck but I kinda want a daisy behind my ear.

I meet a lot of people with tats, many not so young (but not old, either). One woman I'm thinking of said she waited until her kids were out of the house (?) and she has some very visible tattoos, but they aren't overwhelming. She's rather attractive, and I'm always a little surprised she smokes cigarettes. Maybe there is a correlation there, hmm?

Another very good looking younger woman I met (who happens to work in a drug screening lab) has a very prominent tat on her arm, and when asked she said it was for a friend who had passed away a while ago. (I say "a while ago" because when I expressed my sympathy, she stated it had been a while, which I thought was interesting since she had gone to the trouble to memorialize this person, yet shrugged it off as something she had gotten over.)

So me? No tats. Can't see making that expense just to follow the crowd, and they just don't say anything to me.
But I see 'em all the time. Unless someone is dumb enough to get a facial tattoo, I figure that's their thing and don't think about it too much. Wouldn't Not date a woman over her tats.

I meet a lot of people with tattoos as well, working in retail. This older woman comes in every once in awhile, she's probably 70 or older and has several visible black ink tattoos. She's got a short blonde haircut and always dresses in white clothes. I can't remember what they actually are or if I even know in the first place but I like that she has several. I live in a small bible thumpin' southern town so when you factor all that in, you can understand how odd it is that she has them.

I don't smoke cigarettes but I do know a lot of people with tattoos that do. The tattoo artists I've been to have always smoked. I don't know what draws people to cigarettes. I've tried them for a few months when I was a teenager but got tired of them pretty quickly.

I'm glad they don't turn you off though, I always find that statement harsh.

reply

Nope.

reply

No. I don't want one either. Tattoos are chemical burns disguised as art. Piercings are for masochists. It would be a wise investment choice to hold stock in a tattoo establishment as well as a tattoo removal company to get repeat service from regretting customers.

reply

Most tattoo parlors are probably not publicly traded companies, but I bet the manufacturers of tattoo machines are.

I know a young woman who is almost perfect in appearance. Tall, slender, gorgeous face, great smile, dark hair.
She'd had an eyebrow piercing and got into some sort of fight with someone, and the person yanked out her eyebrow ring.
Her eyebrow has an interruption. It's not ugly, but she said she used to pencil it in, then decided it wasn't worth it, so she looks the way she looks.
Sadly, it seems she smokes cigarettes. Breaks my heart when I see young people smoking. What's Wrong With People ?

Tattoos are chemical burns disguised as art.

This question has been asked before and someone else said that exact same thing! Can anyone find that for me? I'd love to know who said it.

reply

No one "said it". I wasn't aware that someone else had said the same thing besides me. But it's just common knowledge. A burn resulting in discoloration of skin is a chemical burn. That's what a tattoo is. Except masochists seem to think causing permanent damage to themselves is "art".

reply

No, I know that they did because I remember laughing at it. I remember thinking how silly of a statement it was.

reply

No I meant the quote has no original origin it's just common sense.

reply

I don't see it that way.

reply

Gotta be honest with you, Pete, I do not like tattoos. I can somewhat otherstand small ones that commemorate a lost loved one, but otherwise...

reply

Here's the thing, I'm open to getting one, but I'm not going to get one just for he sake of getting a tattoo. For me, it must have some sort of meaning. For example, I see a lot of military guys with tattoo's. Its kind of like a Brothers in Arms type of thing. If I ever meet the love of my life, I consider getting her name scrolled on my body in a tasteful manner. That pizza dea is hilarious by the way. I can see someone doing that when drunk.

When it comes to gangsters, the Yakuza or the Russians win hands down. They have some really impressive, full body art.

reply

I feel the same way. I want one, but it would need to have meaning, and I haven't thought of anything yet that would be meaningful enough.

reply

I don't but my wife has a small heart over her left breast. It is rather fetching. She was a bit of a wild child back in the day.
