I usually think they died when you don't see them in anything for a long time. With Dick Van Dyke, when I saw the trailer for Mary Poppins Returns, I thought: "now way. That's impossible!"

I felt the same way about George Kennedy. When he died, I thought he already did ten year before. The same with Mickey Rooney.
