You can't accidentally leave kids in a hot car for eight hours.

So, there were three more deaths in the past week involving babies being "accidentally" left in hot cars for hours. And all the pop psychologists are coming out of the woodwork to try to make it seem as if it's a totally normal thing that could happen to any caring parent.

I'm sorry, but this is complete and total bullshit. If you took the time to dress, carry and buckle in your baby, how do you get in your car, slam the door, and think, "Okay, time to go to work"? Especially if you're actually leaving the house much earlier than you normally would on a workday so you'd have time to drop them off?

My mom went out of her way never to put me, my brother, or any of our dogs in that situation. The interior temperature of cars in the summertime can get up to 120F, particularly if the windows are shut. It's a horrible way to die, getting cooked in your own car.

The worst aspect of the infants is, the baby is trapped in there, cannot get out on their own or open the windows (let alone reach them) and nobody can hear them crying from being too hot. They are doomed. Their lives get snuffed out because a parent was too much of a neglective, lazy, stupid asshole.

Even if I had kids, I would always make sure to take the baby/toddler into the store with me, or if I had a pet, I'd crack open the windows and not leave them there for more than 20 minutes. Either that, or I wouldn't take them along on the errand at all, whatever it was.

Only a really stupid parent who is inattentive of their child/pets would do something like that.

Never, ever leave a pet in a car on a hot day! Cracking a window won’t do it as the temp still rises. I wouldn’t sit in a vehicle for 20 minutes with just the windows cracked. Just leave the pet at home. Those 20 minutes could turn into a much longer time. It’s not worth it.

It's easy. Child sleeping silently in the back. Parent in a rush and sleep deprived. Parent walks around in an automatic zombie state doing normal routines. But, if dropping off the kid is new, then it's easy to forget since it's not part of their normal routine or blank out thinking they've already done it.

Car seats in the back are a stupid idea. Worst, they are rear facing as required by law. Out of sight, out of mind. Better to place them in the front seat next to the parent.

Anyway, it's common.

Of course you can’t

I don't know how this happens.

It's murder IMO.
People convince themselves they can say it was an accident and all will be forgiven but that's no accident.
