Red Dragon. It was a few years a after it came out.

I got rid of my VHS years ago, but the last film I saw was Runaway Train. Excellent film by the way.

reply

that was forever ago, but it's an interesting question.

for me it came later than others because i didn't get my first dvd player until 2005. i know i was still renting VHS tapes as late as november 2006. but i can't recall what the specific movie was.

i guess i'm one of those nostalgic people. i liked the VHS era, and video stores in general. i know streaming is 'easier' but i loved the experience of going to the video store to pick something out to watch. it was like an event, kindof a JV version of the event of going to the theater.

good times.

The Lord of the Rings: Return of the King

I have no clue what the last VHS I rented was.

I do collect VHS and I buy them at resale shops, garage sales, flea markets and online all the time.

reply

I imagine you have some movies that were never released on DVD.

reply

Yes, lots of 70’s and 80’s stuff. Many of mine have the sticker on the tape that says “Be kind. rewind.” :)

reply

I haven't forgotten "Be kind. Rewind." It took me a little while to get used to not having to rewind when I finally moved to DVDs. I appreciate that with DVDs you can skip chapters if you want to. No fast-forwarding necessary.

I still have a few VHS tapes, though. Most are things I recorded off of TV.

i Like s lot of Italian horror, adventure, crime or whatever really and a lot of that is only available on VHS.

I think the last one I bought online was Golden Rendezvous (1977) because I could not find it on DVD and I picked up Romancing the Stone (1984) at a Goodwill store. It’s always fun if A VHS has coming attractions from the time period.

reply

Oh yes! Coming attractions on an old VHS tape is rather entertaining. I get the same feeling when I watch a tape I recorded off TV - old commercials.

reply

OLD COMMERCIALS ARE BETTER THAN NEW TELEVISON.

reply

I agree.
