Do you agree that rating something out of 4 is stupid?

It's always bothered me seeing a movie rated out of 4. I wrote this because I was just on Rotten Tomatoes which counts a 60% as a positive which means a 2/4 would make it a 50% and a 3/4 would make it 75%. Even if we're not on Rotten Tomatoes it's still stupid to do it. We wouldn't rate things out of 8, so why do they stop at 4?

I EMPLOY THE 1 TO 10 SCALE.ALTHOUGH IVE BEEN TINKERING WITH A 1 TO 20 SCALE..I FEEL CONSTRICTED BY HOW CLOSE CERTAIN FILMS FALL TOGETHER DESPITE HOW I FEEL ABOUT THEM SEPERATELY WITH ONLY A FEW DIGITS SEPERATING THEM.

I think 1-10 is perfect. I think there's enough room especially when you add .5.

Yes I agree. A lot of movies are very middle-of-the-road and rating them a 2 is too low and a 3 is too high.

Agreed also. What does 2.5 even equal? 60%? That doesn't make sense.

3/4 is actually 75% not 70%.
