What's your opinion of these vices: gambling and prostitution?

Gambling in moderation is okay. I find prostitution gross. I wouldn't have sex with one.

I have done a very little gambling on card games, horse racing and in casinos and won a few times and lost more times. Small stakes only but I never found it very interesting. My personal preference would be to ban it but people will just do it on the sly anyway so what's the point ? The same thing with prostitution. I think it's a bad business but again people will do it anyway.

Is prostitution a vice though? I would call it an occupation.

Personally I don't partake in either. The only time I gamble is going in on the office sweepstake for the Melbourne Cup (I actually hate horse racing but one can only be so antisocial at work). Other than that I find gambling boring and prefer to save my money rather than bet it.

I've never been quite desperate enough to pay for sex either. I can't imagine enjoying it if I did, but each to their own.

I also think all drugs should be legal.

I've been to the casinos where I live when I was younger but now that I'm older I kind of look at them like you're throwing money away. You would have to be pretty desperate to go to a prostitute.

i'm a-ok with both - in any kind of discussion of issues like this, i am going to come down on the side of personal freedom and people living their lives as they see fit.

I don't like gambling because it rips people off. I never understood the gambling addiction: I mean how could you be addicted to losing money?! But I mean if it's part of a Vegas package with shows and they only gamble a little it's no problem. It's those who lose their life savings and/or embezzle money a la Owning Mahowny that's the issue.
As for prostitution, the way it exists in the US is not as good as how it is in say Amsterdam. There are a few issues though: 1. it attracts crime, 2. disease, 3. many hookers are ripoff artists. So when it's legal and regulated those things are reduced. Of course now most of it is online which makes it safer also.
