This is why I think team nicknames should remain with the founding city/state. It made sense when the Lakers were in Minneapolis (after all, Minneapolis is the "City of Lakes).
The Minnesota North Stars makes sense since we're the "North Star state." Notice that Dallas dropped the "north" when the team moved there.
There were rumblings a few years ago that the Minnesota Twins might move. Would it make sense that they became the North Carolina Twins?? 🙄
New Orleans Jazz made sense. Utah Jazz? Not so much. 🙄
