It depends. It's a cultural thing. White culture was a lot about being collaborative, or at least having that appearance, even if you were extremely competitive in the background. Black culture is more about proving you're the hierarchical alpha male by any means, violence included, and Will Smith proved he was the alpha male there.
I though the whole alpha male thing was out of style these days. π
