If no one attends to see a film, does the theatre still play it?

Would seem like a waste of energy and money to run a film with no one in attendance, no?

What if just one person shows up? It would be kinda sweet having the whole theatre room to yourself.

My wife and I got two free tickets to see a movie. We decided to see Sister Act 2 which was near the end of it's run. We show up and sit down. There is no one else in the theater. They played it. They made NO money on that showing.

Funny thing is halfway through the movie I feel something touch my arm. I look over and there is a cat sitting on the seat next to me. Apparently, the theater kept him as a mouser. Since the theater was almost empty, they must have let him in, and he decided to make friends instead of doing his job.

I’ve been alone in the theatre a handful of times, most recently when I saw The Last Duel sometime last year. It’s quite pleasant.

As mentioned above, I’m sure they still run it on the off chance somebody enters late.
