Why do dogs eat cat poop?

It is disgusting beyond measure!

One of the many reasons my dog days are over.

More lies spread by cat lovers.

And any video of a dog eating poop is clearly a deep fake.

Fun fact, cats will begin to eat you when you suffer a heart attack while dogs will preform CPR and call 911 at the same time.

reply

Because cat poop is very high in protein. Dogs are omnivores and cats are obligate carnivores, so cat food is made with a much higher proportion of dead animal tissue (meat) than dog food. So your cat eats more protein than your dog, the cat's poop has more protein than the dog's, and the dog thinks the litter box is full of free Tootsie rolls.

And the dog licks your hands and face.

reply

I have a no lick policy when it comes to dogs.

reply

As do I. It's one of the things standing between me and dog ownership, that and the size of my home. And my cats.

I do let my kitten lick my nose, though, and he licks his own butthole.

reply

Unfortunately, for my daughter, we have a no pet policy in our house. When she’s old enough I’d like to get her a tarantula because she adores spiders, but it may be difficult to get my wife to agree, as she’s petrified of spiders, lol.

Cats are cool 😎

reply

If your wife can't stand spiders, getting a tarantula wouldn't be fair to either her or the spider. If you can have a terrarium animal, but not a larger barky climby critter, maybe a gecko? They seem to be cute and active, by the standards of things that live in terrariums.

You’re absolutely right - she’ll probably end up with a tortoise 🐢 lol.

reply

I knew a pet tortoise once, it ate more lettuce than a pet rock but that was about it for fun. Would a small bird or two fit into your lifestyle? People go absolutely nuts about their birdies!

Just don't get a parrot unless you're willing to let it run your house, and the houses of future generations.

reply

Because we travel all the time, it would have to be extremely low maintenance, like a Guinea Pig maybe.

reply

Guinea pigs are actually very cute and appropriate for small kids, they trundle around busily, they make a variety of very cute squeaky noises, and interact with humans. But FYI they *are* incontinent, if you let them out to play on the floor they will occasionally leave a little line of guinea pig pee behind them as they trundle around. Rabbits may be the same, although I barely remember what they're like, as I come from a generation whose parents would buy fluffy bunnies at Easter and then take them to the pound when they got inconvenient.

If you're thinking of pets that aren't cats or dogs, look into what they eat before you make a decision, for instance some reptiles require live insects or mice. Also see if there's a vet in your area that will look after it.

Great advice 👍
