Your thoughts on "The Smashing Pumpkins"?

A talented group. That Billy Corgan seems like a humble, intelligent and chill dude judging from interviews.

I AGREE WITH YOUR THOUGHTS...ALSO...1979 IS ONE OF THE GREATEST SONGS EVER RECORDED.

reply

I was a big fan till Machina. After that, I lost track.

reply

An iconic group of the 90s.

reply

Loved them before they broke up. Now they record shit album after shit album. Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness is one of my favourite albums of all time.

reply

The lead singer has a weird voice but I like a few of their songs.

reply

Haven't really payed attention to them past Mellon Collie, but always thought they were the most underrated band of the grunge era. Billy Corgan is a very talented & unique songwriter & guitarist.

reply

I like a few of their songs.

Melon Colly and the Infinite Sadness has to be the most 90s album title. Either that or All the Pain Money Can Buy by Hardball. Funny how downbeat a lot of popular music was at the time. It was a relatively peaceful, prosperous time. We had problems then too, of course, but compared to other time periods, not so bad.

Talented band, yes...I love a lot of their music. However, I wouldn't exactly call Billy Corgan "humble"...he was known for having a pretty big ego back in the day (He got into it with Steve Luthaker over something back in the 90s). Maybe he's changed in recent years...I don't know.

reply

Yeah, even he's admitted that he had an attitude problem in the past that affected the band.

reply

Sounds like Axl Rose.

Billy is definitely a talented guy and a great songwriter (pre-2001 at least), but he does think highly of himself. Thankfully he's changed in the recent years.

reply

Did you know that Hole/Courtney Love's song "Violet" is about him?

--Michael D. Clarke

reply

No, but I know Billy Corgan wrote 5 songs for "Celebrity Skin".

reply

Yeah, I thought he was pretty arrogant, even by rock star standards. He seemed to think he was on the level of people like John Lennon or Kurt Cobain.

He did some good stuff but he wasn't on the level of an icon.
