Name an actor/actress who YOU would like to see in (more) villainous roles

Could be an actor who:

1. Has never played a straight-up villain before

2. Hasn't played a villain in a while

3. Has only played the antagonist once, maybe twice in their career.

So I just rewatched Furiosa recently & boy was Chris Hemsworth fantastic! It was a side of him we rarely get to see..

Same with Henry Cavill in Mission Impossible Fallout & Tom Cruise in Collateral.

More actors I'd like to see as antagonists:

1. Timothy Olyphant
2. Denzel Washington
3. Chris Pine
4. Chris Pratt
5. Scarlett Johansson
6. Tom Hanks
7. Hugh Jackman
8. Emma Stone
9. George Clooney
10. Dicaprio
11. Johnny Depp

Jessica Gunning. She was excellent in Baby Reindeer and pulled off "unhinged" very well.

reply

Definitely on my watchlist.

reply

I want to see Frances McDormand play something like a corrupt cop or some evil CEO of some tech company that wants to take over the world.

reply

I second this.

Also, Tilda Swinton & Cate Blanchett.

reply

Tilda Swinton was a villain in "The Killer" (2023).

reply

Eh, she was BARELY in that.

Also, I don't think she was a villain. Just a fellow assassin. She wasn't ''evil'' like the brute (in the movie)

reply

Samara Weaving is the best thing about The Babysitter (2017) . I'd like to see her as a villain in a horror or thriller something like that

And as far as actors I'd say Jeremy Renner. He hasn't played bad since The Town (2010) I think

reply

Oh wow, you're right. Great pick. He was excellent in The Town.

He was also pretty fun in the really underappreciated S.W.A.T. (2003)

reply

I always thought John Favreau played an awesome asshole character in I Love You, Man (2009). Can't recall any other role where he wasn't a good guy.

reply

Anne Hathaway
Ewan Mcgregor
Sigourney Weaver

reply

Yes to Ewan! He was super fun in Birds of Prey.

reply

Jodie Foster

reply

Elysium is the ONLY time she has played a straight up villain in her almost fifty year career as an actress. That was a surprising fact for me to learn.

reply

I immediately thought of Tom Hanks as well. He did play a con man in The Coen brother’s The Ladykillers (04) remake but it’s been a long time.

The idea of the widely beloved and seemingly affable Hanks playing a mean villain is sort of interesting.

reply

Would've loved to see him as a villain in Tarantino flick.

reply

Yeah! Some diabolical type that isn’t afraid to use goons and a Tommy gun to intimidate his victims. That COULD be fun though Hanks would have to toil to overcome his ‘happy neighbor’ vibe.

reply

A friend of mine suggested that he could be an excellent Bond villain.

reply

Ha! Now we’re talking😄

reply

Hmmm🤔

reply

A corporate villain type or maybe an arms dealer. Let's go!

Bro, I’m trying to respond to our friendly users and half my posts are not getting through!

This site has become maddening🤬

reply

That's why this was my last actual post on this site & why I've been taking so long to reply to comments.

It'll load for like 10 whole minutes & then just time out. It's so damn frustrating.

Shame really. It's my absolute favorite place to post on the internet right now. Sucks that it seems to be dying right before our eyes.

Arnold Schwarzenegger, out of retro mania, and Ryan Reynolds for a real change, as he always plays too-good-to-die heroes.

reply

Yes to Reynolds. Would be a welcome break from the constant snarky, sarcastic characters he always plays.

reply

Arnie did play a terrific villain in the original Terminator but I would love to see him as a heavy again!

It makes me a bit sad that some our classic movie heroes and bad guys are getting way up there in age now.
