He always looked 60 years old

Even in the early 80's when he was making The Thing, I thought he was like 52. Turns out he was 32 but he had grey balding hair and wrinkles of a man twice his age. And now he looks like he's 150...his Wikipedia picture is almost horrific. I know he was a lifelong smoker but he had to have been smoking 6 packs a day for 30 years to look like that. geez. William Friedkin was 12 years older than him but looked better at 87 than Carpenter did at 70.

Yeah, seems like Max von Sydow who played mostly old guys for his whole career. I don't care how he looks, though, because he works behind the camera after all. I wish him a long life. Love many of his movies (Halloween, Prince of Darkness, The Thing, Christine, Starman, etc...)

Yeah he's always looked older than he was.

When making Halloween at 29-30 years of age he looked like a 55 year old uncle you'd have back in the 70s.

He's a legend. Halloween is my most watched movie ever and played a huge role in shaping my taste and preferences in my late childhood.

It's the cigarettes.
