shareHe was born in England but he moved to the USA when he was 18.
shareTraes of Elwes's accenty CAN be found in 1997'sd hilairous "
Liar Liar", which was a pre-"Christymas Caorl" teaming with Jim Carrey. He seemed to have a "Mid Atlantic accent", like Thurston Howell or Jane Hathaway on Beverly hillibes,a bit only without the "lockjaw" phrasing..
I know, right? I came here to comment on how much he's developed into a fantastic actor. I did not think much of him in the Princess Bride but in his more recent parts, he's fantastic. Did not ever have a clue he was a Brit. Always took him for a Yankee.
Jack's not dead! Jack would never die without telling me, first!
yep just like hugh laurie, damian lewis and gary oldman. All english actors must live in the US for a considerable time to achieve the accent.
shareAn American accent isn't hard to mimic.
shareTell that to Emma Thompson. She really struggled with it in Primary Colors. As did all the British actors I saw in a London production of Six Degrees of Separation back in the early 90s.
shareTom Felton's American accent in Rise of the Planet of the Apes was awful.
