A Single Man

I don't know about his best performance, but Kingsmen was the most WTF role.

That scene where he lays waste to the church (or whatever it was)... who knew this stammering, vaguely nebbish Brit was capable of that?

The Railway Man (possibly because I've not yet seen A Single Man).

A shout-out to Apartment Zero - a very effective performance in a strange, chilling film.

His best performance is probably A Single Man - he's superb, although the film fell apart for me due to Tom Ford's clumsy, florid direction.

He was very good in The King's Speech but Geoffrey Rush - whom I often can't stand - outclassed him.
