Reed's greatest role?

I would have to say Athos in Richard Lester's Three Musketeer movies, followed by Father Grandier in Ken Russel's The Devils. #3 would be Bill Sykes in Oliver.

I would say Gladiator too, but his Bill Sykes is a close second.

The Brood

The Jokers. Not a film you see anymore but dating from the time when he played dangerous young men.

The Shuttered Room and The Jokers were both very good.

Pretty much everything he did in the 60s and 70s.

I saw that movie in elementary school when it came out. I loved
it. It was great, but Oliver Reed scared the hell out of me so I will
always think of that movie when I think of Oliver Reed.

Looking through IMDB's list of credits for Reed he was one of the
voices in the animated version of The Adventures of Baron Munchausen
which was great. I remember being blown away by seeing that
on the overnight movies. So ... maybe #2.

I'm not sure if he was a voice actor in the animated version of Baron Munchausen, but he was definitely in the live-action Terry Gilliam 1988 version as Vulcan, Blacksmith of the Gods. He was the jealous husband of Venus, as portrayed by Uma Thurman.
