Not the best Avenger girl

I loved the Avengers but didn't like Diana Rigg.

Too snooty and upper middle class for me.

Tara King (Linda Thorson) was my fav. :)

I agree. Both her and McNee were very dignified. I can't make the OP change his mind. After all, that IS his/her opinion and we've got to respect that. But as for me, she was my favorite. :)

And most others as well. Tara King only lasted a short while and most did not care for her very much. We used to watch this as a family with neighbors who had a color TV at the time. Funny to imagine a time when there were no color TVs, but it was not that long ago. In any case, Dianna Rigg was very popular, because far as I know she was the first of the sexy women fighters.

Oh, and by the way, Emma Peel, her character's name came from M. Appeal, male appeal ... that was her point of her character - to interest the males with her sex appeal.

Diana was definitely my favorite Avenger girl. Her episodes are the only part of the series that I own.

I could not agree more, jaypay111. I remember watching this program as a child and wanting to become Emma Peel. Diana Rigg is THE ONLY Emma Peel.

Same here - Diana was the best -- and for the record, during the year or so that A&E ran ALL the Avengers, I watched every single episode - Linda was too young and inexperienced, and personally I thought Cathy was just too snooty. Bright, intellegent, smart, but just .. dunno, not quite right. And the Rigg years are the only ones I bought the DVDs of also.

The chemistry between Steed and Mrs. Peel was amazing. Steed was awesome, in part, because of Mrs. Peel. In later episodes, Steed was awesome IN SPITE of Tara King. Plus, Diana oozed sex appeal. Linda came off like a substitute teacher.

Diana Rigg had no equal. Even Steed thought so - in the New Avengers when you see the photographs on his mantel, Mrs. Peel had the biggest frame! Diana Rigg was the whole package: intelligent, sexy and a fantastic actress.
