Immensely Talented

I never thought I’d say when I first heard him or saw him but after all those years of enjoying his music. He is really special and massively talented. Way ahead of his time.

reply

Agreed, he was a fine singer, writer and performer (his public tough guy, punk rocker look in the 80s was seriously one of the best looks outside of heavy metal at the time)
He had quite a few good songs and several big hits

Frankly it's a bummer he took a bad spill on his motorbike and he struggled with recovery for so long, but he made his mark

reply

Always loved his music. But it took me a while to realize how truly talented he is.

reply

Few?

Yea but his fault. Had he not been so wreckless he wouldve been a major icon. Sort of went halfway.

reply

*quite a few*

reply

Don’t think you’ve heard his greatest hits.

reply

Think what you like and have a fine evening

reply

Good.

reply

He had already made his mark and had started to decline by the late 80's. He is a major icon. Maybe we should be thankful he never became mainstream American top 40.

reply

He had nine U.S. Top 40 hits. But I have a feeling you are referring to a style rather than the numbers.

reply

Okay, I listened to punk in the 80's, and I wasn't sure how widespread was Idol's popularity. But yeah, he never watered down his style.

Had he not been so wreckless he wouldve been a major icon. Sort of went halfway.

So what was the OP's point?

reply

The quintessential 80’s rock star. If ever there was a rock n roll biopic needed, it would be his!

reply

The problem is that he’s not dead and could still could add to his legacy miraculously.

reply

He is really special and massively talented. Way ahead of his time.

Lol, and Vengaboys are as well, I guess?

reply

Did he write his songs? They are indeed good, and his voice is one of the best ever IMO. "Eyes Without A Face" never gets old for me and I spin it regularly even these days.
