If you go over his movies, you'll actually see that he has been consistent that his female characters are always smarter, more focused, and better than his male characters. His "wokeness" has been around long before it was called Woke.
As for him going after fans... that's been going on since the 90's. He's a little sensitive. The internet made it a bigger issue in the sense that more people saw it.
Kevin Smith has always leaned very far to the left, so this sort of thing shouldn't be a surprise. If he directed a marvel movie, well then, I'd agree he'd sold out.
