Not even close to their worst song, imo. It's fun and Brian's guitar work really shines on it.

reply

"Don't Try Suicide". It's so bad I won't even post a link, I might hear some if it if I went to youtube!

reply

Delilah.

reply

Probably You're My Best Friend. I loathe that song.

reply

Haha. That is a godawful song.

reply

It truly is.

reply

Honestly, I hate Bohemian Rhapsody as well. I'm not a big fan of gay camp in rock.

reply

I know everyone will disagree with me when I say,

we are the champions

Now, I liked we will rock you.

I could say "Under Pressure" also.

reply

Okay, there's another awful one, We Are the Champions. I'm really not a Queen fan.

Under Pressure with Bowie was terrible too.

It might be easier to post a good Queen song. They have too many lousy ones.

reply

"Best Friend" is classic. A touching tribute from John to his wife, and catchy as hell to boot. That it's all over cheesy "buddy" type Tiktok vids won't change anything for me.

reply

The song the drummer sings about his car imo , not a big fan of radio gaga ether

reply

All of them suck

reply

Agreed. I hate Queen. The first album was decent before they went top 40.

reply

Bravo, my friend

reply

Edgy.

reply

No, there are many of us who never cared for Queen's gay camp rock. Camp and rock are antithetical to each other. Assign Queen's music to another genre, call it anything but rock, and some of us might not have such a problem with it.

reply

"Many"? Not really, they're one of the most universally loved and best-selling ROCK bands in history. The idea that camp and rock are "antithetical" is laughable, given the influence that people like Queen, Bowie, T-Rex, Alice Cooper and Gary Glitter have had on the genre.

Queen received endorsements from artists like Iron Maiden, Metallica, Guns 'n' Roses, Robert Plant, Roger Daltrey and Tony Iommi, some (or all) of whom I suspect you'd consider proper hetero rockers...

reply

Bowie's art was not camp merely because he wore outrageous costumes.

And no one calls T Tex "Camp". I think you're confusing 70's glam and glitter rock with "camp".

Yes, Queen elevated gay camp and melded it with their rock.

Scaramouche, Scaramouche, will you do the Fandango?

(Galileo) Galileo, (Galileo) Galileo, Galileo Figaro, magnifico

Oh, mamma mia, mamma mia

Mamma mia, let me go

The faux operatic element was gauche.

Sorry, a lot of us do not like that crap. It might be cute theatrics. But it's not rock.

reply

No one calls T Rex "camp"

"Cocky and camp, T. Rex's 'Get It On' was glam rock's first global hit in 1971."
https://www.wsj.com/articles/how-t-rexs-get-it-on-launched-glam-rock-11554827860

"Bolan... was the decade's first superstar in Britain, but he never hit it off with America, due in part to a stateside inability to comprehend camp."
https://pitchfork.com/reviews/albums/7903-electric-warrior/

" 'Hot Love' sparked glam rock with Bolan's increasingly camp Top of the Pops appearances crowning his satin jackets with the trend-detonating glitter dabs on his cheekbones."
https://recordcollectormag.com/reviews/album/electric-warrior-deluxe-edition

"Electric Warrior remained startlingly present well into the 1980s, with bands like Mötley Crüe and Def Leppard embracing the camp cock-rock aesthetic Bolan had pioneered."

reply

Lame. So you google T.Rex and camp and you're gonna find plenty of straight males who don't understand it.

Why Did Critics HATE Queen?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vaIEZBybXms

reply

Your claim that "no one calls T Rex 'camp' " was shown to be patently false. The last link was from a gay journalist in a gay magazine, by the way. Not exactly a "straight male". 🤣

Your response is to post a video that continually declares Queen a ROCK group, thus scoring a further own goal. 🤦‍♂️

How will you embarrass yourself next?

reply

Uh, try to have a civil conversation without throwing lame insults.

Sorry, you can call Bowie in drag "camp" if you want. But it's not the frivolous camp done my Mercury in Queen.

Galileo, Galileo? Really?

Yeah, Queen is vaguely rock. But you could have fooled me.

They're a lousy band. Plenty of people do not like them.

You claimed they're "one of the most universally loved and best-selling ROCK bands in history". No, they've always been dismissed by many including renowned critics like Dave Marsh.

reply

You're going to handle the embarrassment of your own goals by baselessly accusing me of "insults"? Lame, as you might say.

Queen have sold upwards of 200 million records. They are unequivocally one of the most popular rock bands of all time, with the Beatles, Zeppelin and Floyd their only rivals in that regard. The penpushers laughably failed to influence public opinion of Queen, as they sold records hand over fist and influenced scores of future chart musicians.

Dave Marsh? The guy who said John Bonham couldn't drum? Yeah, definitely someone to take seriously. 😂

reply

You claimed Queen was "universally loved" when both Darth and I and Dave Marsh agreed that "they suck".

You were wrong.

Britney Spears has sold 100 million records. Michael Jackson has sold over a billion records. So?

That has little to do with the quality of the music.

reply

So, you're now disingenuously taking the word "universally" to a masturbatory, literalist extreme in order to further assuage the embarrassment. Yeah, I clearly believe that every single person to ever live since 1973 adored Queen... 😂

Nobody said sales reflected quality. We now have a strawman at play. Wouldn't it be easier to just admit you've been trounced? Hey, you don't even have to give me credit: your glaring own goals would have lost you this one regardless.

reply

Uhuh, that's what you just said, dumbass. I beat you at every curve.

If you want a good gay camp rock band listen to Sparks.

As I said, Queen sucks.

reply

Uhuh, that's what you just said, dumbass.

Ah, accusing me of non-existent "insults" while resorting to them yourself. Own goal number 26534780, was that? 😂

Now to batter you to bits once again by pointing to professional journalists who use "universally" in the same context I did:

"Queen became a universally beloved band."
https://www.popmatters.com/162529-mercury-an-intimate-biography-of-freddie-mercury-by-lesley-ann-jones-2495821529.html

"Queen's music is universally beloved."
https://www.telegraph.co.uk/films/0/oscars-2019-rami-maleks-lousy-freddie-mercury-impression-embarrassing/

"[Adam] Lambert was invited to be the guest vocalist with Queen as they toured. Performing universally loved songs..."
