What happened to her? She kind of.... vanished. Asking from 2024

Saw her name here in old post from 5 years ago asking why Anna Kendrick is everywhere. And I noticed that I didn't see her in anything for a while.

I checked IMDB and she actually isn't in anything noteworthy for few years now.
And nothing lined up. Wonder what happened.

Pitch Perfect came in 2017 and it looks like her career started going down after that. Like it happens with many actors who became famous during some trilogy. And then can't keep up when it ends. Orlando Blooms career went into dumpster the moment his third Pirate's movie ended.

It's weird since Anna Kendrick can be good. I wonder why can't she find herself good movie. Her agent must work better.

Too much competition, especially during an era where even a less reputable actress can get a lot of attention on Instagram and YouTube as long as they are hot, funny and/or creative.

Then you have other women who are not actresses in the traditional sense but they are showcasing their acting talents on TikTok or whatever.

Why do people still act surprised when 95% of actresses suddenly stop getting as many roles when they hit their early to mid 30s?
There aren't that many roles for women and those that exist go to the latest, young, hot thing or to one of a small handful of women who get most of the roles or have transitioned to less roles as "the mom" or even the "grandmom".

Two of them are voices in cartoons. Which is not acting. Just side job.

"Woman of the Hour" is directed by Anna herself. Premiered at the festival in september last years and that's it. It was supposed to come to Netflix. But I can't even find trailer on Youtube. I assume it didn't come out at all

"Self Reliance" was released by Hulu on January 12, 2024.Very quietly and no one even knows about it. Just some small movie.

She used to be in movies that made box-office money and everyone were talking about them.

The movie industry was garbage for a while with too many superhero themes, sequels and remakes. And then there was covid which paused both movie and TV productions. She appears busy, but she never had movie star status. She's directing and producing, also.

Exactly. I'm astounded that 98% of actors today(most of whom aren't connected to The MCU or The DCU in any way, shape, or form)are still surviving

Looks like she was in a toxic relationship, which screwed her up, got her into alcohol etc. Hopefully she recovers now.

She's never really been an A lister. She does smaller movies, and typically with an ensemble cast or a two hander. She's an ok singer, conpared to most actresses, and that's gotten her the biggest roles it seems, and voice acting is a legit acting talent that she is good at. And, she did have a movie come out at the end of last year, so it's not like she's not workin, but she's never been a big onscreen star, and probably never will be. It doesn't help that she's fairly middle of the road in her attractiveness.
